Situated in the heart of the breathtaking San Juan Mountains, Mountain Village is in San Miguel County in Southwestern Colorado. It was founded in 1995 and designed to be a ski-in/ski-out pedestrian-friendly alpine destination resort intended to complement the historic mining town of Telluride. A three-stage, innovative gondola transportation system connects Mountain Village with Telluride.
Telluride Ski Ranches is a subdivision that was approved by San Miguel County in the early 1970s. It is a neighborhood of approximately 200 properties with about 75% of them built out. The neighborhood is adjacent to Mountain Village and is characterized by larger 1- to 2-acre private wooded parcels.
Many people are unaware or overlook a special part of Telluride. That is, the spectacular mesas spilling out miles from the towns of Telluride and Mountain Village. Mesas are a flat, elevated plateau featuring big skies, big views, park like settings with a mix of grasslands and mature pine, spruce, fir and aspen forests.
Excellent from start to finish. Mike and his staff marketed the property well and sold it in a timely manner for full asking price. We were kept well informed throughout the transaction from listing to showings, inspections, right up until the close of escrow. Mike not only did an excellent job on this property but helped us find another highly competent realtor to help us with a different property in another state.

We’ve known Mike Shimkonis (aka Shimmy) for over 30 years. We met before he was a realtor and was working for Vail associates. Around 25 years ago, Mike helped us find our first home in the area in Telluride’s Ski Ranches. As our family grew, our needs changed. Do we remodel, do we build, in Mountain Village or Town, etc? Shimmy was there for all of those discussions, providing guidance through his knowledge, experience in this market and straight forward advice.
