Fairlawn, Ohio Bankruptcy & Business Attorney Serving the Counties of Summit, Stark, and Medina. Like anything, the financial situations we find ourselves in are complex and multifaceted. Often more than one factor, such as health care bills, student loan repayment, credit card debt combine to create a seemingly inescapable hole.
Together we will develop a plan to protect your assets and give you the fresh start you so desperately need and deserve. Sometimes that will involve filing bankruptcy, sometimes just negotiating with creditors. And I can dispel your misconceptions about bankruptcy. I went to school in Akron before establishing my practice in Fairlawn.

Business has always been my calling. Before I became an attorney, I worked for years in the business sector, and I loved the challenge of each new role I took on. To my surprise, one of the challenges I enjoyed most was learning about the legal side of the industry. You see, our team had several business attorneys we would call upon for advisement, and I could never seem to get enough out of my conversations with them.
Filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Ohio is governed by the United States Bankruptcy Code. Chapter 7 bankruptcy is designed to give you a fresh start, free from the harassment of debt collectors. Under Chapter 7, most unsecured debts are completely eliminated. A few examples of unsecured debts are past due medical, credit card and utility bills, business debts, pay day loans, certain unpaid taxes, and repossession deficiency balances.
Chapter 13 bankruptcy is different from Chapter 7 in that instead of your debts being simply wiped away, you repay a manageable portion of those debts(often as low as 10%) through a payment plan lasting 3-5 years. The length of your payment plan and the amount you repay is based upon your disposable income.
In my practice, estate planning comes in two forms - traditional estate planning and business succession planning. In other words, I help those who want to safeguard their assets and define their wishes in regard to their medical treatment, finances, business operations, and other such matters before they become incapable of doing so.
The passing of a loved one can be one of the most difficult life events a person will experience, not just because of the loss, but because of the multitude of tasks that need to be addressed immediately following the loss. Some decedents will have a plan in place, have discussed their wishes with family members and prepared their last will and testament, but others will not.

Rick took the time with my X and me when no other attorney in the area would, we wanted disillusionment and we both wanted to sit down with one attorney and have them just be honest with us about the process. He took the time to call the Bar to insure he was OK to proceed with both of us to a point, we fully understood the process and I have to say it was the best experience we could of hope for. The process was so smooth we started it and finished in 3 months court and everything, and the cost was well below the other attorney out there, before you would do anything I would give Rick a call. Thanks

We used Rick for our small business acquisition. He took all the time needed and even took our calls on the weekends. There where many twists and turns in the process, but Rick never backed down and stayed by our side the entire time. We can not thank Rick enough for all the guidance and representation.

Rick is incredibly bright and has the practical experience of running a mid size company coupled with the comprehensive legal understanding to handle any issues that arise with your business. He's steady and detail oriented, but he can be fiery and imposing when that's what your business requires. Highly recommended.
