Asking for help can be hard for a lot of reasons, even when we really need it. I am a licensed therapist, available as a guide, teacher, and healer, to support you through exploration and making changes in your own life. Whether the challenges you face are emotional e.g. Since 2009 I have been treating clients using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a method of understanding and improving your emotional cycles and mental patterns.
CBT provides ways to directly connect with, examine, and adjust patterns that keep you stuck. I also combine current evidenced-based practices and effective approaches from other schools of therapy such as Internal Family Systems, polyvagal theory, solution-focused, existential, and exposure therapies.

Directions from the 101: Take the exit for College Ave and turn left from the 101 South or right from the 101 North. Drive for 2 blocks then use the second from the left lane to turn left onto Mendocino Ave. Proceed slowly and begin easing toward the curb as the office comes up quickly. My office is through the back entrance of the Farmer's Insurance building, on the Northeast corner next to the restroom.
In 2015 Tara opened Athena Counseling, her private practice in Santa Rosa, CA where she treats a range of mental health and relational problems with specialties in rape trauma and anxiety disorders. Her approach builds on a genuinely caring and authentic therapeutic relationship and combines the best of current evidenced based practices and effective approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Solution Focused Therapy.

Tara is AMAZING! I worked with Tara for 2+ years, and in that time, I overcame my phobia of driving on freeways and learned to manage my panic disorder. Tara changed my life. She is flexible, compassionate, very knowledgeable, and just overall everything you would want in a therapist. I HIGHLY recommend seeing her if you are struggling with anxiety.
