A Memphis Massage Institution, Tennessee School of Massage has been graduating leaders in the massage community for over three decades! They both recognized the need for a comprehensive training program offering holistic, professional massage training.
Tennessee School of Massage has had the pleasure of instructing hundreds of students that today are licensed massage therapists serving clients in Memphis, the greater Mid-South, and across the nation.

The Professional Massage Therapy Program at Tennessee School of Massage (TSOM), located in beautiful Memphis, TN consists of four eight-week semesters, covering all aspects of the theory and practice of massage therapy, totaling seven hundred hours. Students attend classes four days a week, with additional time scheduled for clinical.
Most all of our classes @ TSOM have been developed with both the lay-person and LMT in mind. To that end, these courses qualify as Continuing Educational courses in the state of Tennessee as part of core curriculum @TSOM. They also are put together in such a way that individuals, serious in the study of these subjects, will have no problem understanding the material and will have just as much fun as we do!
Tennessee School of Massage is proud to offer CE classes for massage therapists and other health related professionals on a regular basis as well as Fun Classes for the general public. Please see our current but expanding list below, categorized by class. Where noted, classes are NCBTMB approved. All CE classes offered through TSOM meet the requirements for the Tennessee Board of Massage.

I would not recommend this school because the board and Tennessee School of Massage are in cahoots to shake down students and massage therapist for money. They will lie as if you need more hours then recommend this school. The board told me over the phone that I needed 32 hours then wrote a letter stating I needed 7. Called the board and acted as if I was never told that and asked who told me that. So I can't prove it. I wished I had asked Dale to put it in writing that I needed 32 hours when she told me that. Do not sign up here, they are shaking people down. They got me for $400. There are other

I started my career path with Tennessee School of Massage due to circumstances beyond my control I had to move mid semester. I am a former student of Tennessee School of Massage. I graduated in 2004 and have been very successful in my massage career ever since. Sissy prepares her students for real life in the Massage therapy business and I can honestly say she had me ready for my career!

TN School of Massage really prepared me for work as a licensed massage therapist. The anatomy classes were taught in a way that wasn't over my head, and I took a lot away from the classes. The class sizes were not over-crowded, which allowed me to have a great relationship with the instructors, have open and honest conversations during in-class discussions, & form great bonds and study groups with my classmates. I also got real-world, hands-on experience working in a boutique spa that is associated with the school, which allowed me to gain clientele feedback.

As a wildly successful massage therapist and former student of this school, I can only sing their praises. David and Cissie carefully nurture and guide each student through guidance and leadership. They were always available and willing to prepare me for the unexpected. Given the chance again, experiencing all I have and knowing what I know, I would go back and do it all over again. I have the most amazing job, and after a recruiter daughter the school for a recommendation; David have a glowing recommendation for me. He also advised me and answered the “tough” questions I had about the job

For me, attending TSOM was one of the most amazing, life changing experiences. It has been three years since earning my license, and I now own a thriving private practice, where I get to do something I love every day - ease pain and lift spirits. And although I've been out of school for 3 years, I still meet with David and Cissie on a regular basis for business advice and mentoring.
Is this program challenging? Yes. Do you need to be self-motivated in order to be successful? You absolutely do. But, if you are willing to do the hard work it takes to complete the program and take the state boards

David and Cissie make their students feel like family. They go above and beyond to take students "under their wings" and dedicate their time and energy towards students' success. Curriculum is made easy to learn and in a comfortable setting. David is an advocate and a source of wisdom towards entering the professional spectrum. They are focused on students' success. LOVE this place and will miss it!
