In an emergency, we can file a skeleton petition electronically that freezes creditors within hours. CHAPTER 7 AND CHAPTER 13 are the appropriate choices for most people, including those with small businesses. It eliminates secured debt as well; but the lien survives, so to keep the secured property, you will have to keep paying the debt associated with it.
Or, you can surrender the property and owe nothing. The major categories of debt that will not be discharged in chapter 7 are domestic relations support and divorce-related debt, recent income taxes, court fines/restitution, and most (but not all) student loans. Once a chapter 7 case is filed, there is a hearing with a chapter trustee about 30 days later that both you and your attorney must attend.

Mr. Sherman was very helpful during a difficult time in my life Very friendly during the payment process. Unfortunately after the bankruptcy was dismissed. Mr. Sherman held checks in my name from the Trustee for almost 2 months . This was During Covid ! It was my money that was returned from the trustee. His letter with the checks, stated he had considered keeping it for himself!!! This has prompted me to change this review to warn future customers. This attempt at taking money from his own bankruptcy client? I need to say he is an attorney that I would not hire for anything.

My husband and I would highly recommend Mr. Sherman!! He helped us tremendously through a difficult time by answering all of our questions and making sure everything went smoothly for us. We didn’t have to worry about a thing! He was very quick to respond to us wether through email or phone and was very kind and professional throughout our time working with him. We will most definitely be referring any friends or family that may need an attorney to him in the future!!
