Whatever you need for your vehicle-from an oil change and state inspection to a brake repair or even an exhaust system repair-our technicians are ready to fix it.Visit us at 2045 N Atherton St. in State College. We look forward to getting you going again.
Services
We are not an outside corporation that has simply expanded into the State College market, we are a business that was conceived and grew along with our community. For over 50 years, the Vratarich family has been selling tires and servicing cars on North Atherton Street. In 1964, John Vratarich and his wife Joan relocated their family to State College and started the area's first Independent Tire Store.
At Tire Town we try to keep it simple and hassle free. With our "all-inclusive" pricing there are no additional charges for installation, wheel balancing, rubber valve stems or TPMS reset procedures. We hand torque the lug nuts, recycle your old tires for you, and we provide you with free air pressure checks and tire rotations for the life of the tires.
The term "winter tires" instead of "snow tires" is used today because these tires are designed to work in all winter conditions, not just snow. The biggest difference between a winter tire and an all season tire is the tire compound. Winter tires are made from rubber compounds that stay pliable below 40 degrees to provide better grip even on dry roads.
We are one of the leading auto repair shops serving customers in State College, PA, Bellefonte, PA, Boalsburg, PA, and surrounding areas. All automotive repair and mechanic services at Tire Town are performed by highly qualified mechanics. Our mechanic shop works on numerous vehicles with the use of quality truck and car repair equipment.
Pennsylvania requires safety inspections for most vehicles. In some counties, vehicles must also pass an emissions inspection. All safety and emissions inspections must be performed at an official state inspection station. Your vehicle must pass inspection to continue to legally operate on Pennsylvania's roads.

Our college-age daughter's car had battery issues. Dealer couldn't fit her in so she was worried she might not be able to make the drive home to join us on vacation. Luckily Tire Town said "bring it in - we'll take care of it." They installed an Interstate battery - probably the most respected name in the battery business - quickly and at a… great price. Our daughter texted us later and said "I hope my car never needs work, but if it does, I'm going back to Tire Town." Thanks to everyone at Tire Town for putting her mind at ease and showing her how good the best local auto repair shops can

I had my car inspected by a local garage in Tyrone less than 30 days ago. Clearly, they never even looked at my car. In taking my car to tire town this week expecting to have a $20 fix for what I thought was a… screw in my tire from all the construction on every single road in Tyrone for the past five months, I discovered that a brand new set of tires (less than 3 months old) had been mounted incorrectly by another garage. This caused an extremely bad wear on the inside of both rear tires while the outsides were completely brand new. This of course threw the alignment completely off and

***Beware*** As a Michelin dealer, they should honor warranty claims (at least according to the Michelin rep that I talked to). However, if you didn’t purchase the tires from them, they (rudely) refuse to help. I have a warranty issue with 1-year old tires on a new car that was purchased in CA. The advice that I got from “Christian” was “take it… back to the dealer” and “good luck.” Just plain rude. Michelin apologized and recommended several other reputable dealers in town.
If one makes claims about “quality” and “service&rdquo

Walked through the door at 1:24PM, they are advertised as open until 2:00PM. I tell the gentleman at the counter I have one wheel that I need the tire removed from ( a task that takes a single tech all of 3-4 minutes) and receive a firm loud NO from a man at the opposite end of the counter. The gentleman at my end of the counter then says "sorry, we're all picked up". My reply was "I don't understand what that means". He then responds, "we're closing and going home early". I was literally speechless. Two counter men and 3 techs, only one of which looked

What a pleasant experience with these folks this morning. I waked in with a punctured tire and walked out with a repaired tire and a smile. Special thanks to Christian and his team working hard early on a Saturday.

I have been using tire town for as long as I have been driving, so 24 years now, and JR and his team are absolutely awesome and so professional. They strive to build solid relationships with their customers and I thoroughly enjoy going there, and would choose Tire Town over any other place in State College🎉🎉

I highly recommend Tire Town. For both inspections, minor repairs and tires. We moved to State College recently and had to get our cars inspected. What made me review them so highly was the fact that when they identified some minor issues with the older of our two vehicles (10+ years old) they were very clear about what needed to be taken care of to pass the inspections and what should be done but not needed for the inspections. It's not often that auto mechanics tell you about issues without making it seem like the repairs are urgent. Tire Town was transparent with their assessment of

I had to get a flat tire repaired today, and as usual Tire Town came through for me. Significant because the first big snow fall was today, and they were slammed with snow tire installations. These are great guys and will bend over backwards for you. I've also been buying my tires there for years.

I've been going to Tire Town for about twenty five years now. I'm also very knowledgeable about cars. Tire Town is a great choice for auto repairs and tires. They won't do work you don't need and they'll tell you if they can't do something you want done. Their prices aren't the cheapest in town, but they're fair. They're straight shooters, so the give you the facts and don't candy coat things. Sometimes they could be a little friendlier about it, yes, but it's a minor point. To me, trust is a major thing when it comes to auto repair shops and

My back right tire needed replaced and I was dreading having to deal with garages early enough in the morning I wouldn't be late for work.

I originally made an appointment online at Pep Boys - huge mistake. I showed up only to wait ten minutes for them to tell me no way would they be able to help me today. Granted I missed the disclaimer to cal and verify the appointment, but that almost seems to defeat the point of online appointments. I digress.

Still on a crunch for time I headed across town to Tire Town. From the minute I walked in the service was excellent. The guys were all really

I chose to go to Midas first because of the reviews of this place. But after being told at Midas they could not look my car until Monday (it was the Friday before winter break), I came to Tire Town. I walked in and the man at the desk greeted me and was so friendly. I told him that all I needed was my hood looked it because it would not secure in the latch. Within 10 minutes they had a temporary fix so that I could get home and gave me some info on what could be wrong and what I might possibly need to do in the future. They didn't charge me a penny and sent me happily on my way. Very pleased

My family has been using TireTown for decades now, starting with my grandmother. I never feel like I'm being ripped off when I go there. They provide excellent and friendly service. My most recent trip here, I had a screw that became lodged in my tire, so I took it here expecting to have to get a new tire, instead, they were able to repair it and it has held up very nicely since. I've always been pleased with their service. Especially being someone who doesn't know a lot about cars (and being a girl) I'm very cautious of where I take my car to avoid being ripped off. I

Although Tire Town may have sums good techs, their owners are always rude. I moved here in 1994, I tried tire town in late 90's and found the owners very nasty , they like to lecture their customers!

Anyway, I waited over 15 years to try again, I walked in and asked if I could set up an appt for. my Audi, I needed a seal checked on a tire. Same guy from 15 years ago, says. " If is snows to tonight I want NOTHING to do with it!" I said, oh is it supposed to snow? He said again, " Yes and if it does I want nothing to do with your car."

I was flabbergasted but mildly amused

Friendly and quick.

Tore the sidewall in a tire on my Toyota avoiding an accident. They replaced the tire and rotated my wheels. Took about 20-30 minutes and it was gameday in State College too. They didn't have the Pirellis I have on my car in stock but had a comparable tire. Only 120 for everything.

Great service and amazingly fast. Brought car in needed new tires, oil change, and having a grinding noise in front right. Quickly diagnosed as bad strut and control arm. Repaired fast and price was very fair. Tires may have been cheaper at a big retailer, but my car drives better than when it was brand new (60000 miles now). Highly recommended.
