I'm a mom, wife, dog mom to 4 (yes, I said 4, it's not a typo) rescue dogs and I own 2 businesses; Small Talk and Fun 4 Kids in Buffalo.com. Fresh out of college if you had asked me where I would be today, I would have said that I'd be running the marketing department for some big corporation wearing a suit to work every day.
Or maybe the conversation was more like "I really need to fill some openings this week, I'm going to run a promo and boost it on Facebook." Which usually leads to, "ugh, I wasted so much money on boosting that stupid Facebook post and I didn't get a single person." I promise I wasn't eavesdropping on your internal debates.
People come to you because they want to look and feel beautiful. They don't just want services, they want an experience. If they didn't, they'd be down the street at a chain place getting their beauty services for $12.99. The best way to start their experience is by telling them what to expect when they work with you and that begins with your brand.
Writing down your goals along with a plan to achieve them is the best way to take your business to the next level. Without a plan, it's easy to get off course and waste money. For example, you notice a dip in business. You've been flying by the seat of your pants with no plan and panic. You buy an ad in a local publication thinking it's going to help.
Canva is an amazing tool for small business owners! If you're not using it already, check it out. Canva allows business owners to create professional looking graphic design pieces using a drag and drop system that requires little to no graphic design experience. While Canva can never replace a trained graphic designer for big important projects like logo design or print pieces, it's perfect for graphics with a shorter shelf life.

I recently collaborated with Jenn on a website development project, and I was very impressed with her both her technical marketing skills and her in-depth knowledge of her target industry. If you're in the salon, MedSpa, or esthics services, I highly recommend Small Talk Marketing for any of your branding, marketing, or website development needs!
