In order for our board-certified specialists to be awarded Diplomacy in their respective specialties, veterinarians must successfully complete the certification and rigorous testing requirements of the various specialty boards.

By equipping our office and staff with state-of-the art, tools and equipment, we are able to accurately and more rapidly diagnose and treat animal illnesses. Serving as a regional referral, emergency and critical care center, our staff accepts cases requiring advanced specialized surgical and medical treatments.
When you call, a scheduling staff member will assist you. A referral to the Miami Veterinary Specialists can be requested by your veterinarian as well. If it is not possible to keep a scheduled appointment, please contact the scheduling staff at least 24 hours in advance. If you are going to arrive late, please contact the scheduling staff as soon as possible.

I can't thank the doctors & staff at MVS enough for saving our little Voodoo! I have worked in the veterinary field for many years and Dr. Carter is an amazing ER veterinarian who is honest in her prognosis & fair in what she recommends for diagnosis, she is kind in her delivery & explains all her findings thoroughly during your consult. I cannot thank Dr. Andrade enough for staying late to perform emergency gastrostomy on our naughty boy who ate a part of his toy. I have never met a surgeon who is as quick & precise as she is. Anywhere else you go will be faster. You don't come here unless it's serious. They constantly tell you an emergency came in. I've been here with my dog literally dying for the last 6 hours. In fact when we came in one vet came over in the waiting room and she told us he looked like he was in pain an he was "extremely dehydrated". Six hours later we were still waiting to see someone, they could have had him on an IV to address the hydration immediately. It why you get an IV the second you walk into a hospital. Another lady here has been waiting for 8 hours. Expect for everyone to get ignored and

Our experience was horrible. My Husband took our little chihuahua on 12/27/2021 at 12:51 AM having an allergic reaction to a medication he was gasping for air. They turned him away because they only had one Doctor and recommended another Hospital that was 40 miles away. Being so far by the time we got there our little dog was dead He died about 5 Minutes before we arrived. We believe some oxygen or an IV would have probably saved his life or buy him some time to get to the Hospital. They are horrible no regards for our pet’s life, He was 15 years old but very energetic and active with no problems

My mother called them asking to see my dog who is old in age that has a paw that's injured so badly that she can't even walk. She cries as she limps around and screams. They told my mom to find somewhere else to go because she's not dying or bleeding to death. Extremely unprofessional given that she is part of our family and we are willing to pay whatever is necessary to get her the quality care that she deserves.

I went to this place and the receptionist was extremely rude. I was simply asking a question because I was told to come to this place because my doctor was sent him early for an emergency. The lady didn't care, and whispered to the other lady if she doesn't have money she can go somewhere else. Very rude

Can’t say enough about the people who work here. Our dog had a catheter left in by another vet, after teeth cleaning. We noticed the issue after our vet’s office had closed! Our dog’s legs are white and the bandage was white as well, so it was hard to see the small catheter. We immediately called Miami Veterinary Specialist and spoke with Jessica. She checked with the vet and told me to come on over, no charge! Who does this nowadays! We were so happy and thankful for them! Highly recommend this place!

We went to MVS as recommended by our vet, since it was outside of their regular hours. Our pup was presenting with painful stomach bloating, so he was seen right away (we called as we were on our way, to inform them we were coming). They started doing blood work & x-rays on him. Turns out, which we later found out from his doggie daycare, earlier that day he had eaten a larger breed's entire day's portion of food. He was FULL of food, which the x-ray showed, so they induced vomiting, gave him medication and fluids, and kept him overnight to monitor him. The total cost was almost

I dropped off my cat on Friday morning at 9 AM for iodine treatment. I was scheduled to pick him up Sunday morning. After not hearing from the office for over 24 hours, at 12pm Saturday I called to get an update. I was told that the tech who was responsible for that would be in later that afternoon. At 4pm I still hadn’t gotten a call, so I called again. Waste of money, wasted $900 for them to tell me everything was fine and that my cat was just stressed. my car is sick and i called back and they just told me "Call back if it happens again " " Call a vet " Excuse me ? This is literally the worst service ever. First off the receptionist is super rude and not attentive at all. The doctor came in after i got here to tell me that she'd be right with me, mind you I came In at 1. I waited because I know emergency rooms are busy but I was getting impatient Bc my dog is not feeling well and I go to check to see how long the wait is and they tell me 2-3 hours. Are you kidding me?? You couldn't have said that when I arrived? No consideration for anybody's time either.
Im only here Bc it's my last option right now but I would not recommend at all.

The front desk receptionist that was working 08/25 at 12am. Needs a course in how to be professional. She had an attitude the minute we stepped in with my dog losing a lot of blood. She then asked if we were notified of the wait time. She said it would be five hour wait. We understand there are others patients however we asked what happens if he bleeds out? The WORST experience I have ever had stepping into a pet emergency. The attendant at the front desk had a horrendous attitude and extremely rude demeanor and was bothered by the first word. The wait was going to be 2-4 hours to be seen and the only way they can check you in is if you type your space number which I'm assuming they check periodically. I mentioned that I would check in but my husband was going to meet me there to take my place and the RUDE AF attendant said that wouldn't be possible with her snarky attitude. I have an infant at home and a sick dog, and this is the last place

Our 7 year old dog was limping and misdiagnosed at another vet. Dr Larin gave us the terrible news that he has osteosarcoma. It's been a very sad and grueling journey but we are so thankful to have the best doctors. Dr Larin's surgical skills are impeccable and Dr Suter (oncologist) and his staff are beyond competent and caring. Our boy is going through chemo now and there is no other place we would place our trust.

If you want your pet to survive don't come to this hospital. I don't understand how an "emergency" hospital has a 3 hour wait to see a doctor. Do with that as you will but if my pet is in critical condition I'm not waiting 3 hours for them to even talk to me. They don't even let you go inside with your pet, you have to wait in your car.
Overall, terrible place and terrible experience. There are 100 more competent places to spend your $120 on for a consultation.

As my baby got diagnosed with Malignant Melanoma I was looking for an oncologist and looking for a specialist and came across MVS. I was given an appointment for Friday to see my baby as I'm desperate for her to be seen by a specialist. I was called and told that they had to reschedule my appointment to a later day because they would not be able to see me. I was reluctant to make an appointment initially at this facility due to all the reviews I have read on the different platforms. This place is horrible and they do not care about your baby. Dr Andrade successfully performed a risky hip surgery on my dog who has heart disease. I felt really well taken care of and am VERY happy with the results.
The office is really clean and well managed. Lots of staff! My experience with MVS was one of the best vet experiences ever. I didn't go through ER, but I imagine it's run the same as during normal business hours.
Anyone giving 1 star is upset about having to pay money to help their pets in emergencies situations - which would happen anywhere. It doesn't reflect the care and professionalism of MVS's staff and doctors

When my 17-year-old cat started throwing up and abruptly stopped eating, I knew that I needed to do something as these situations tend to escalate very quickly. Thankfully my regular vet, Sunset Animal Clinic (THE BEST!!!) has an after-hours answering service, and the person I spoke to recommended Miami Veterinary Specialists. I called in advance to understand the procedures and what to expect. They texted me the forms I needed to fill out so I could do that at home (instead of from my car) and once you arrive, you call and tell them your parking space number so a vet tech can come out and record
