Dr. Larry Pawl and his team offer restorative and cosmetic dental services to residents of La Mesa and San Diego. Dr. Pawl was born in Chicago in 1959 and has been a resident of California since 1963. He moved to San Diego in 1987 after graduating from dental school at Washington University in St. Louis, MO.
We offer our patients full service restorative and family dental services including crowns, fillings, root canals, bridges and implants. TEAM PAWL's philosophy to restorative dentistry is to treat each tooth with the most conservative treatment possible. Simply speaking, conservative dentistry means if a problem or defect in a tooth is seen, the treatment we recommend will always be the option which will preserve the most of your natural tooth.

We offer our patients comprehensive preventive dental care with our complete dental exam, cleaning and follow up care. Our office believes that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. We pride ourselves in providing the most thorough, comprehensive dental examination around. Head & Neck Examination (Checking the face and neck, lymph nodes for lumps and bumps as well as evaluating for TMJD).
We offer our patients the latest dental services using laser dentistry for gum re-contouring, cold sore/fever blister treatment, laser gum treatment, and laser decay detection. Our office features many state-of-the-art dental laser technologies for our patients health, comfort and convenience. We have invested in these technologies to help all of our patients achieve optimal dental health.

Dr Pawl’s entire staff are kind and make the dental experience better with their great attitudes. From making an appointment, to my initial visit, to replacing crowns and a great cleaning, I was treated with respect. Everything was explained, in detail, nothing was a surprise.

First time writing a review for a dental office, and it’s because Dr. Pawl and his staff are absolutely wonderful. I used to not like going to the dentist due to experiencing pain and it not being the most comfortable experience. Now, I look forward to my dental visits due to their care. After so many years putting up with teeth that were not to my liking I decided to have all my teeth replaced with beautiful new crowns. I could not be happier. Dr Larry Pawl and his team did such a wonderful job.

I would like to first start off by saying Dr. Pawl is a great person who cares about his patients and his staff around him. The cherry on top is that he is an amazing dentist as well! I just moved to the area and I feel so lucky to find a new great dentist.
Dr. Pawl and his team are professional, knowledgeable and friendly.
I went to them originally because my bridge got chipped. Dr Pawl replaced it with a nicer new one. Smiling suddenly feels better than ever.
They also looked into my whole denture and we are working on prevention for a healthy denture since I have a total of three bridges and some other issues.
I'm the process they make you feel very comfortable and every way possible.

This is going to be a long review so please beat with me. Before I became a patient of Dr. Pawl, I was going to a dentist in Santee for 10 plus years. In February of 2019, I found out that my old bridge needed to be replaced, and my previous dentist initiated a project that turned out to be a nightmare. The bridge didn't fit well, and mind you he tried twice, but both bridges were bad. I found out about Dr. Pawl thru a friend, and this friend of mine was telling me how gentle Dr. Pawl is. PLEASE READ ENTIRE THING. I DON'T WANT THIS HAPPENING TO ANYONE ELSE. If I could give zero stars, I would. My husband knew this dentist so we decided to try him out. Dr Pawl did recommend me eventually getting Invisalign, which I am still going to do. But before you can do so, you have to be cavity free. Well I had a wonderful fun time the other day. Oh this is a review for a dentist office? Yes! Can you imagine! I have been to my share of dentists and many that were not great. Some horror stories in fact. But Dr. Pawl and his staff are amazing, he takes his time to explain what is happening and options, never rushing. In fact the whole office is superb, they all make me feel very comfortable and almost part of the family. How about I had a procedure done for two crowns and there was literally NO PAIN. Did you read that right? You sure did, a dentist with no pain!! Just the best.

It has been a struggle to find a dental office that you can feel confident in and kept top of mine as a patient. Dr. Pawls office makes you feel at home. Linda is amazing and an expert at what she does explains it all as second nature. Stephanie is so sweet and is always there to help. Dr. Pawl is the icing on the cake! Been seeing Dr Pawl and his staff; Linda, Stephanie, Christi, Brittany, and Jamie, and before she left, was seeing April the Hygenist, they are all super sweet and caring, always try to make it fun and pleasant. Also, they are very efficient, in and out, no monkey business. Playing some good rock and roll music along for the ride, and work with you on payments if you need it. Would highly recommend Dr Pawl and his staff for all your dental needs!

By far the BEST dentist ever. Between all of the staff and Dr. Pawl, I could not be happier. I have suffered from cold sores since I was 5 and the laser treatments are amazing. For $75 I get 2 sessions and it kicks my cold sore in the butt! I would recommend this office to anyone who needs work done or help with a cold sore!

Our family has been going to Dr. Pawl for a number of years. We cannot say enough about this team of professionals! My husband has had some unfortunate previous experiences at past dental offices, which left him very anxious and requiring medication to step through the front door. Dr. Pawl & his team are amazing! I recently cut the inside of my mouth in my sleep, which led to a cankersore that lasted over a week. I was barely able to eat or talk. I found Dr. Pawl's office after searching for laser cankersore treatments in San Diego and from the start, their office stood out. What can I say, that haven't already been said. This doctor and staff are great! Growing up, I had such horrific experiences with dentists. My wife searched and searched for a DMD that could service our family's dental needs; She found Dr Pawl. She said she would be the "test subject" and let us all know how it goes. After her appt, she gave us the thumbs up and we all started going. I love the fact that he is honest, very knowledgeable, and can joke around. I mean come-on, what other dentist sings "carne-asada free zone" while doing your fillings, love this guy!

Since a traumatic dental experience in my adolescence, I have had extreme anxiety about the dentist. Most dentists condescendingly shook their head at me when I told them my fear kept me away for years, and never did their "bedside manner" indicate any concern for my anxiety. Not only did Dr. Pawl and his staff acknowledge the strength I had for coming in despite my anxiety, but they also provided me with the most caring, friendly dental experience I have ever had. I can't believe my luck to have found such an amazing dentist office. My son had a huge canker sore and refuses to eat or brush his teeth for days. My dentist had mentioned a laser they can use to help heal the sore quickly but when I called them they couldn't see him till Monday, which was 4 days away. I had my first visit with Dr. Pawl last week. Going to the dentist isn't exactly something anyone looks forward to, but I can't imagine having a better experience. Everyone was friendly and inviting and really made me feel welcomed. April is amazing - she answered all of my questions and is super knowledgeable and thorough. I have sensitive teeth and it was by far the most comfortable cleaning experience I've ever had.
