AZTEC Engineering, founded by Richard Martin in 1989, is a provider of combustion expertise to the refining and petrochemical industries. AZTEC specializes in plant wide reduction of combustion generated NOx, reduction of energy consumption from fired units, fired heater safety and development of operator and engineer training programs.

AZTEC provides design assistance for gas duct systems including natural draft and forced draft combustion air, flue gas collection and stack systems, heat exchanger inlets and outlets, etc. AZTEC has developed a fired heater simulator for operator and engineer training. TRAINER is a realistic simulation of a process heater that demonstrates the impact of various operating parameters on the operation of the heater.
Services
Ten years with Callidus Technologies as Vice President of the Burner Division and Chief Technical Officer. 20 years (part of which overlaps with the above activities) providing combustion consulting and expert witness services through Aztec Engineering LLC.

A total of over 40 years experience in combustion related research and development, equipment design, operation of combustion equipment and CFD modeling for the refining, petrochemical, natural gas and other industries.
TRAINERA(C) is a realistic simulation of a process heater that demonstrates the impact of operating parameters such as air temperature, fuel composition, and humidity on the operation of the heater. The air flow and fuel flow to the heater can be adjusted and the stack damper can be set to control the draft.
Aztec Engineering LLC was formed in 1989 by Richard Martin to provide chemical and combustion engineering services for the refining and petro-chemical industries with specific emphasis on low NOx burner design and application. Following is a listing of experience and achievements. Ten years with Callidus Technologies as Vice President of the Burner Division and Chief Technical Officer.
