Dr. Shane Nelson is a highly sought-after dentist in Overland Park. Having graduated in 1989 from John F. Hodge High School in St. James, Missouri, he received his B.Sc. in Biology and Chemistry from Southwest Missouri State University in 1993. In 1997, Dr. Nelson graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry, obtaining a Doctorate of Dental Surgery.

I really wanted to give Dr. Nelson a 5 but I can't. My first visit with him was great. I went to him because he has the 3D equipment that most dentists don't use. I wanted to make sure that I did not have any cavitations. He explained everything great. The readings were very explicit and precise.
My biggest disappointment is that the office claims that they would file your claim to the dental insurance but we have to pay the full service up front; 2.5 months later and we haven't received any notification from our insurance that anything was presented. Dr. Nelson is the best in the KC area. Highly skilled, explains everything in detail and is educated with the latest procedures & technology. The staff is so nice and helpful. We love going to this office because we are given the best treatment and have been extremely satisfied with all the work we have had done. It's top notch.

I’m so happy to have found Dr Nelson. I have had TMJs for most of my adult life, have experienced excruciating pain, pain that was so debilitating that I couldn’t get out of bed. Then a neighbor mentioned how Dr Nelson had helped her husband with his jaw pain. I called his office right away and was seen within that week. Dr Nelson was very pleasant, personable, and knowledgeable and was able to explain the treatment very clearly and I was very comfortable. Dr. Nelson is a gem! I discovered him almost 20 years ago by a stroke of luck when I needed a dentist in the Shawnee area. Today I live in Manhattan, Kansas, and drive over 2 ours for his expertise. Dr. Nelson is incredibly knowledgeable with all areas of dentistry. He has always made me feel comfortable, which has dramatically helped to lower my anxiety level when it comes to routine cleanings. His tools and techniques are state of the art, he’s highly skilled and Dr Nelson is one of the nicest people I have ever met. I have struggled with my smile ever since another dentist botched a procedure years ago. Dr Nelson has restored my faith in dentistry and is actively working on giving me the best smile I have ever had. VERY highly recommended!

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Nelson's since we moved to Kansas City in 2004. He is caring, conservative with his treatment plan, knowledgeable about all facets of dentistry, he is honest and goes above and beyond for his patients. He uses high quality crowns and veneers when other dentists may use a "cheaper" version. I'm very pleased with his service and would highly recommend his service to others.

Shane is a Tremendous Dentist, probably the best in Kansas City . I had problems from work at another dental clinic, and Dr. Nelson quickly and effortlessly resolved my issues and fixed my bite. His equipment and dental tools are of top of the line. Will be going back for sure.
