The Thomas G. Smith Funeral Home is a full service funeral establishment serving families in and around the Northeast Ohio area. We believe that all persons deserve the utmost in dignity with respect to the closing of their lives. In addition, we believe that the surviving family members and friends deserve the highest quality of service and comfort possible during the emotionally unsettling time of death.

As a result, our primary mission is to provide dignified and worry free final rites for the families we serve with the delivery of such services in an empathetic, comforting and professional manner. We also strive to place special emphasis on the quality of our product offerings as well as on high levels of personalized service to families.
Services
Recently, as an alternative or complement to cards, flowers and gift baskets, there has been a large increase in the sympathy gift throw blanket being used to convey messages of condolence. This is a great way in which to express love and support for a family in a more enduring manner.

Whether we were an acquaintance of the deceased or purely wish to show our friend or loved one how much they mean to us, the sympathy gift throw blanket provides those who have lost a loved one with something that cards, flowers and gift baskets simply cannot do alone - a lasting expression of condolence.Cards of condolence are a longstanding and simple gesture that allows us to depict, in words, how we truly feel about the loss of an individual.
Staff members of Thomas G. Smith Funeral Home are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors.

Tommye, a native of Dayton, Ohio, is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati (Economics) as well as the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and is an Ohio Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. He recognized his calling to funeral service at a young age and for more than thirty (30) years has gained valuable experience while in the employ of several funeral homes in Dayton and in Cleveland.
Our facility is the total redevelopment of a 12,000 square foot property which had been a neighborhood grocery store. Our grand entry hallway is warm and inviting. The hallway is approximately 100 feet in length and expands to 18 feet at its widest point which allows for sizable gatherings. Our stateroom spans a total of 1800 square feet and can be divided into two smaller rooms.
During a funeral service, family and friends gather with each other to share their loss and to provide much needed emotional support for each other. By participating in the funeral service, those who grieve will face the reality of death and take the first step toward a healthy emotional adjustment.
Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.

Unprofessional service, did not relay all relevant information, no family viewing of body prior to public viewing services, did not place obituary in newspaper after being asked if this was our wishes, no obituary on website until day of funeral (public viewing was the day prior) and listed age as 53 instead of 71!, no itemized billing until over a week after funeral, error made on death certificates and refused to pay for corrected ones....too much to list all of the details of this bad experience for an already horrible time.

My family has used the superb, excellent and extremely professional services of Thomas G. Smith Funeral Home as long as they have been in business!!! He and his (bless her soul) deceased wife, Lisa had a passion for their vision for this business! God blessed and anointed it! The quality of service remains top notch. The warmth, compassion, love, sympathy and empathy they share with families compares to none!!! From the "Awesome workmanship" that Mr. Smith displays in preparation of the deceased to the excellent, professional work ethics of his staff are "1st Class" HANDS DOWN!!! I Can't say enough

I have used this business more times that I care to mention and eventhough it was under horrible circumstances, I loved the experience.
I shared with Mr. Smith personally, that the respect and dignity to which he gives families is uncomparable.
Highly recommend anyone who, unfortunately, has to prepare funeral services for a loved one to have a conversation with Mr. Thomas G. Smith.
