K Auto Repair and Tire Center has long-established roots in the Arlington Heights area. Our history begins in 1974, when my parents, Neil and Joan Koebernick, founded the Dakota Union 76 service station. The name Dakota came from North Dakota, the state where my father was born. Over the years, mom and dad always believed in helping the neighbors that supported them, and invested back into the community on a regular basis.
Owner Rick Koebernick did not intend to go into the family business, but couldn't be happier that he did. While his family's legacy is well-established in the auto repair industry, Rick's focus was on business development. After earning his degree in business marketing at Eastern Illinois University, Rick discovered that even auto repair enterprises need sound business plans and long term development ideas.
At K Auto Repair and Tire Center, superior auto service is at the heart of what we do. I’m a mechanic and I just wanted them to Align my vehicle that’s all. They said I needed new suspension new control arms new bushings instead and didn’t even do my alignment very disappointed. I just replaced all my bushings myself. Sad I thought I was supporting a family mechanic shop too for my alignment. I would’ve put 0 stars if I could. Wont be seeing me ever again and wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

First time visit and they did not disappoint! Great, honest assessment of the condition of my vehicle and a willingness to take the time to talk through all potential options. I felt the team at K Auto wanted to help me more than they wanted to profit from me. That's rare in today's world, and exactly the reason why I will return to K Auto again. Great group of folks to do business with, even when the news about your vehicle isn't great.

Nothing less than top-notch service and professionalism at this shop! They go above and beyond. Repairs took all day and they were able to give me a loaner car. To my surprise, I noticed when I got home that they properly reseated and bolted my front license plate, which was not properly done by the dealership.

I've been a K Auto customer for years. They always stand behind their work and don't push products and services that aren't necessary. If they see an issue that needs addressing, they let you know the severity and if it should be serviced right away or if you can hold off for a few months. They're also really nice people that have your best interest at heart and make sure that you're satisfied. Highly recommended!
