No one likes to do taxes. State and federal tax laws are complicated and overwhelming to the average American, making tax season a major headache for many individuals, families, and businesses. The only thing that can make tax season worse is being hit with a civil penalty or facing a tax-related dispute with the IRS or another taxing agency.
A civil tax penalty is a government-imposed penalty for failing to properly file or pay taxes in accordance with tax laws. Civil penalties can be issued by the state or by the IRS. Though less severe than a criminal tax penalty, civil penalties should still be taken seriously and addressed right away.
If you owe the IRS money but cannot make the required payments while still paying for necessary living expenses - like rent, food, and utility bills - the IRS may grant you currently not collectible (CNC) status. This status is a form of protection for individuals who are struggling financially and cannot afford to pay the IRS back.
If you have significant tax debt and feel overwhelmed, there are legal options available. One option to resolve your tax issue is an installment agreement. An installment agreement between you and a taxing agency allows you to pay your debt over a certain amount of time rather than all at once. The circumstances of your situation will determine if you are eligible for an installment agreement.

Wynne Law is absolutely amazing! I reached out to Jennifer to help a family member who had issues with the IRS and State. Not only was Jennifer highly professional and knowledgable, she was able to resolve the IRS issue almost immediately after sending her the required documents. We are now waiting on the state to respond, which I feel quite positive about.
I highly recommend Jennifer for your tax issues. She responds to emails quickly and is always more than happy to jump on the phone to answer additional questions.
