When Chris Raab founded The Pro Design Group in 1990, he already had more than twenty years of experience in the thermoforming industry. This expertise allowed the company to grow into the full fabrication shop that it is today. We remain a close team dedicated towards improving and expanding our capabilities without taking shortcuts in the pursuit of progress.
Plastic vacuum forming is our specialty at PDG. With 5 large rotary thermoforming machines, 4 single stations, and a large double ender. All equipment uses quartz ovens, which we've developed and own all our software and hardware on all thermoformers. Materials frequently used: HMWPE, ABS, TPO, PETG, Polycarbonate, Styrene, LDPE, HDPE, Polypropylene, custom FR Blends, including FDA and NSF materials.
Robotic Trimming is the process where our specialized machines cut various parts and materials to an exact predetermined length, width, and shape. Robotic trimming is an automated process used to construct a variety of new products and molds that require highly customized dimensions and measurements.
We have a complete tool room that consists of multiple mills, lathes, 24 disk sanders, large orbital sanders, multiple types of band saws, a high load high production table saws for aluminum. We have layout and quality control. We are the best. Second to none. We've been tooling for 40 years. All aspects of tooling from thermoforming, pressure forming, rotational, RIM (reaction injection molding), extrusion.
99% of our plastic scrap is closed-loop recycled in-house, documented, and reused for the same client to keep the loop closed and controlled. We process 200 gaylords (each weighing roughly 1,000 lbs) every month in a variety of materials. Our regrind is regarded the best in the industry and that is done with strict controls and cleaning to prevent cross-contamination.
