For over 50 years, Metcalf Funeral Home has been guided by the values instilled in us by our founder, Robert Metcalf. Bob began his career as a funeral director with Roper & Sons before founding Metcalf Funeral Home in 1961. Metcalf operated Metcalf Funeral Home as a privately-held family business until its sale to Prime Successions, a national funeral home chain in 1992.
In early 2004, Metcalf Funeral Home returned to local ownership when it became part of the Roper & Sons family, joining two of the oldest names in the Lincoln funeral home community. At Metcalf Funeral Home, we are here for you in service, and as friends and neighbors. Remembering warms our hearts and helps us to feel better -even in the midst of a heart-rending loss.

At some point in our lives, we all have to face the reality of losing a friend or family member to death. The idea of losing someone we love, however, makes most people feel uncomfortable, confused, and afraid. Yet only when we face death can we truly understand the value and meaning of life itself.
Why choose cremation? The reasons people choose cremation vary widely, from environmental, to spiritual, economic, or simplicity. The ease and affordability of cremation can be attractive to families who are mourning. Can the body be viewed before cremation? Finding closure is important when losing a loved one and viewing the individual can often be helpful.
Perhaps no other moment in the funeral process is as powerful as the final disposition. For survivors, this is a strong symbolic moment, a confirmation that they must let go of the person who died and look ahead to a changed life. For this reason, it is important families choose the kind of final disposition most meaningful to them and most appropriate for the deceased.

Amazing staff! They are kind, caring, professional and definitely experienced in helping people through the difficult task of putting their loved one to rest. Kayleigh and Mark went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations at every turn. Metcalf’s also reaches out to you after the service to see how you’re doing and offer support if needed, which is a thoughtful touch. I would highly recommend Metcalf’s.

Metcalf Funeral and Memorial Services was the best choice we could have made. My sister and I planned and pre-paid our funerals in March 2021. My sister passed away the beginning of September 2021. I received the most sincere help and caring ever imaginable.
Steve and Molly were always there when I needed them. I couldn’t believe they even checked to see how I was doing a few weeks after my sister’s funeral. They were really amazing during this difficult time of my life.
Everyone should be as lucky as I was to have this caring staff to help them through this process. Everything went perfect

Justin took great care of our family during a very difficult time. He is very caring and understanding. He helped me with both my Mother and Fathers services. The caring doesn’t stop the day of the service I have received phone calls and texts months after checking to see how I am doing. That is exceptional! Thank you Justin and Molly!!!

Everyone at the Metcalf Funeral Home were very helpful, compassionate, caring and friendly. I felt comfortable enough to contact them with various questions/concerns and they were able to answer them promptly or make appropriate suggestions.
They have been in contact with me several months after the service... I appreciate their kindness!

Our loved one had a prepaid funeral. Metcalf tried to charge us $600 in over time expenses because we picked a Saturday service. In reading the contract there was no provision for certain days costing more. When I brought that to their attention I was told "When the contract was written they didn't have Saturday funerals." and "it is customary now and not when the contract was written. " I was told an owner would contract me, but I've never been contacted by anyone. Sad they tried to rip us off in a time of need.
