Our mission is to remove health issues as barriers to self-sufficiency and upward mobility for homeless women, and as impediments to development and readiness to learn for homeless children, by providing free healthcare and health information that is easily accessible. Becoming self-sufficient by finding a job and affordable housing is the most effective way out of homelessness.
But unattended health issues can cause and will prolong homelessness. Our collaboration with the Salvation Army Center of Hope, the region's largest shelter for women and children, puts us in a very unique position to make a significant positive impact. The free clinic is embedded within the shelter.

Services
The free clinic provides free healthcare and health education to the residents of the Salvation Army Center of Hope. We cannot accept nonshelter residents as clients. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 9:30AM to 6:00PM. 360 Degree Healthcare represents a shared responsibility for health and wellness between the clinic and the client.
Your support of Shelter Health Services will help the homeless women and children receive the healthcare they need, totally free and to be able to live healthier lives. We rely primarily on grants supplemented by donations from community, professional and faith groups, a hand-full of companies and the generosity of individuals to generate the income we need to provide our services totally free of any charges.
If you are interested in making a difference in the lives of homeless women and children - those who have the most need for healthcare, yet have the least access - call us at 704-334-0000 or email info@shsclinic.org. We can discuss what volunteer opportunities best fit your schedule and interests. We are always looking for medical volunteers.
Enabling self-sufficiency (finding and keeping a job and affordable housing) will effectively address homelessness. However, health issues can become significant barriers and can cause or prolong homelessness. Despite reported decreases in overall homelessness in Mecklenburg County, the number of homeless women without children and with children living in shelters increased dramatically.

I wish I could rate this place a zero. I was filling out a application for services at the shelter next door and I started having contractions. The NP checked me and stated I was only 1 cm dialated. I refused treatment and tried to leave the NP and the RN tried to hold me against my will. They even went so far as to call the police on me for trying to leave stating I was in active LABOUR which clearly wasn't/isn't true because I am still currently pregnant. I will be following up Monday Morning with the medical director of this establishment.

The staff there don't know what they doing sometimes you have to remind them to give you the meds or something you asked for you have to remind them if not they will send you on the way. they don't provide a discharge paper with Information on it. A nurse her name starts with "M" was rude to one patient accusing the patient of something. I understand is a free clinic and is for the homeless but At least they can be a little more professional and respectful to the patients. They always have a interns there that don't know what they doing.
