Roberto's was established in 1985 by Dan and Joanie Schaller. It was a dream of Dan's dad, Robert Schaller, to open a small hole in the wall Mexican cafe in Mammoth. The dream became reality in November of 1985. Previously a series of hamburger stands with names like Burger Station and Barking Spider, Dan and Joanie remodeled the restaurant and Roberto's was born.
Homemade soup loaded with chicken, Spanish rice, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and a fresh slice of avocado. Topped with casique cheese. Shredded beef or chicken, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, onions, refried beans, and Spanish rice. A locals' favorite. Marinated steak or chicken and refried beans wrapped in a flour tortilla, then covered with Roberto's sauce and cheese.

Will not be going here again. The kids bean and cheese burrito was about 5 lbs of tasteless refried beans inside a tortilla that wasn't even wrapped closed. It was just a glob of food thrown upside down. Not sure how they expect a child to eat that. My chicken tostada tasted okay but the shell was wayyyy over cooked (dark brown) and I got sick a few hours after eating. It did not digest well. I'd rather have Taco Bell.

The soup was cold and greasy. The combo plate came with beans, rice and a choice of 1.2 or 3 items. I chose the one item and what a mess that was. The rice was hard, the beans super salty and the tamale was drowning in some nasty sauce. Non of my food was eatable. The service was decent and the place is ok, but not worth the prices.

Good was excellent, reviews were accurate. Portion size was definitely large, drinks were great! I had the spicy mango margarita in a huge margarita glass, hubby had regular blended margarita which he loved. Had to give 4 stars, since the place was tight, servers were rushed, place was too loud and the interior was run down.

We got takeout while we were up in Mammoth for dinner one night. They were extremely fast and had my order ready in minutes after calling it in. The food was great and the portions are HUGE so order accordingly. I got the Duck Burrito and Albondigas soup, was only able to get through half for dinner and had it for lunch the next day. I highly recommend it if you're in town and want some good Mexican food!

Went there with family for our first dinner I. Mammoth the service was great smiling lady like to joke she was willing to answer every question we have
We ordered punch of stuff carne asada burrito grande lobster tacos quesadilla all was made to perfection
I tried also La Bomba which is special margarita wS also perfect and I can tell it was made from a quality tequila
I recommend Roberto's and definitely will come again

This won’t be our only visit. Great service! Portions as mentioned are “how can you make money” sized. My carnitas burrito was massive! And delicious. Most times these two things do not go together but the dishes were pretty darn tasty. Other persons enchiladas were good with a huge side of seasoned rice and refried beans. We had a good laugh about the portions like we were John Candy trying to finish the “ol 96’r”. House salsa has a good kick to it. I had a beer but took a sip of a pineapple’ish based margarita and it was good. Don’t hesitate and bring your appetite. Order a burrito

When we went a couple years back during our short trip to Mammoth Lakes, we decided to check out this place in town which was getting a ton of hype. The first day we tried to get to-go, they were incredibly packed with people. They were so busy that our order couldn't be taken over the phone. However, the next day we went, we tried again, and although the wait was long, it was absolutely worth it!

Beware the food portion sizes. They are huge. Also the hot sauce should come with a warning. It is extremely hot and would recommend not asking for it. As usual Chips and Salsa are served for free. We ordered Chipotle Chicken wings and it is served as 12 counts with an option of ranch or blue cheese. We also ordered Veggies Fajitas which comes with beans, corn tortillas, fajitas and pico de gallo and is massive in size. We paired it up with a glass of red wine and a pint of Mammoth Rambler IPA.

Duck Quesadilla. Lobster Enchiladas and killer Margis. Highly recommended items on the menu. Loved the wildflowers around the building. And always a plus when the restaurant has a pet friendly outdoor area. Great staff. Only negative was that they didn't service the outdoor area at the time. We had to order inside & the food came out on to go containers as if we were ordering for pick up when clearly we wanted to enjoy the beautiful weather (since it is summer after all) & eat outside.

Huge food portions, would highly recommend sharing because you can't really take home and warm up Mexican food with the cheese, guacamole and sour cream and it still taste the same.
This place was really busy but after waiting for a few minutes we were able to be seated and served. We were in and out within the hour which I really appreciated.

TL;DR: RESTAURANT OVERCHARGED US BY MORE THAN $500+ AND IT WASN'T AN ACCIDENTAL ZERO. Service was also not great.

The restaurant was pretty busy the day of at 2pm but they had a couple tables available. First of all, I noticed that the restaurant was extremely crowded at 100% capacity. They have plexiglass but I think most places have relaxed restrictions. Their menus are still QR codes though so we didn't have to touch anything

The line to this restaurant speaks to the great taste of this food. I got the burrito supreme pollo asada and it was very tasty. I also got the pink taco margarita! We also got the nachos and had to take it all home because our meal was so filling! They have a lovely outside patio that is dog friendly. You will need to order your foos inside and they will bring it out to you. You can connect to their guest WiFi to scan and look at their menu.
