Services
Intown Animal Hospital is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care. We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We also work closely with local practices when special diagnostic procedures are required.
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, Intown Animal Hospital stresses the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Firstly, our pets can't speak, they cannot tell us if they feel off color or unwell or have any other indicators of internal illness. We need to examine them every 6 months as well as run some routine screening tests to detect underlying disease BEFORE it is clinically apparent. Use the age chart below to find your pets age in "people" years and the screening testing recommended for each stage of his or her life.
Many people have questions about various aspects of their pet's surgery, and we hope this information will help. It also explains the decisions you will need to make before your pet's upcoming surgery. Today's modern anesthetic monitors have made surgery much safer than in the past.
Here at Intown Animal Hospital, we do a thorough physical exam on your pet before administering anesthetics, to ensure that a fever or other illness won't be a problem. We also adjust the amount and type of anesthetic used depending on the health of your pet. The handout on anesthesia explains this in greater detail.

Here are some questions/answers that we are frequently asked. If you have additional questions that aren't covered here, please feel free to give us a call at (404)881-1805. At what age can I have my pet spayed or neutered? Spaying or neutering can be done at approximately 6 months of age. Your pet is given an exam prior to surgery to help determine whether your pet is healthy enough to undergo the surgical procedure.

I couldn’t be happier with the care my dog receives from Dr Huggins and Dr Carlson. Amazing vets who go above and beyond. I can’t thank them enough for the care they provide for my pet. I have been to many specialists including Cornell and UGA and would trust Intown any day to care for my dog. Wonderful staff as well.

Just love these guys. I was apprehensive at first thinking they would be expensive, but found them to be comparable to a well known charity we had taken our dog to. At this previous place we were advised to do a multitude of tests, but after switching to Intown I found out many were unnecessary. They treated my beloved dog as if they owned him and even walked me through the very difficult season of his final days with grace and care. Dr Carlson and his staff are amazing. I couldn't recommend them higher!

My husband and I have always felt good about taking our cats to Intown Animal Hospital, but they have won us as clients for life. In early December, we brought home two rescue kittens that -- unbeknownst to us -- were also coming with fleas, colds, diarrhea, and ringworm.
We've talked to them at least once a week since this all began -- sometimes… as much as three times a week -- and the staff is always calm, kind, and reassuring. Dr. Raskin just called to check in our littlest kitten who can't seem to get completely well and he made sure to ask about all the other cats (we have five) and

Dr. Huggins was my fur-baby's vet for over 10 years. She was amazing with her. My dog was a 9lb nipper and NEVER nipped Dr. Huggins. Even through multiple serious illnesses and procedures. When she was at the end of her life, the exceptional care and compassion she (and I) received from Dr. Huggins was amazing. I just rescued a new dog, and will be taking her to In-Town to see Dr. Huggins so she can receive the same phenomenal care that my other dog did.

For 3 weeks my dogs regular vet was unable to help with a severe GI issue. Intown was recommended. I took my Weim there on a Friday and by Sunday he was showing significant improvement - like night and day. Dr. Raskin was personable and knowledgeable, but more than that he took the time to explain things to me (my other vet never did). I'm beyond thrilled and we have found a new vet for Barney!
