Services
I do recommend DeShano Companies for your home building project. I selected a "shell package" because I wanted to be more hands on in building our cottage. Jeff Zettel did an awesome job guiding me through the process. His expertise helped me with many of my decisions and believe me there are a lot of them.
Calculating how much you are willing to spend is the first important step to success in your building project. This should be done first, because all other building decisions are affected by your budget. If you plan on applying for a loan, you should meet with an experienced lender to evaluate the process.
The simplest way to pay for your build is with cash. We will set up a pre-determined draw schedule and submit invoices for draws directly to you at agreed intervals. If you choose to finance your project, we will work directly with your lender to facilitate the draw process. You will normally still need to pay for change orders with cash, as these are over and above the contract price your lender has agreed to finance.
There is nothing more rewarding than designing a home that reflects your personal tastes and gives you those little things that make life more enjoyable, i.e. bigger bathrooms, an open floor plan, and larger closets, just to name a few. The customized home of your dreams does not have to be a large home, it should be whatever size makes the most sense for you.
They say that you are never more than six miles away from a body of water in Michigan. With that much water, there are countless opportunities in the great lakes state for waterfront living. Here at DeShano Companies Inc. we have built scores of waterfronts over the years and have many designs that are uniquely suited for waterfront locations.

They were contracted to build our last home. The salesperson exclaimed how great they were. The initial process was slow which I believe was the fault of the salesperson. The showroom visit was supposed to be a great experience (mandatory) but was not really beneficial. We bought many items from outside sources. The building quality in my opinion was average. They say you can participate in the actual building process but once you start there is always a reason you can't. Plan to paint your home. To me the quality of product used was inferior and it was a battle to get what we wanted

Shayna at the call service is unhelpful and somehow rude beyond belief scoffing at what I say and not being very helpful. I definitely never wanna call past hours again. She didn’t even listen to me telling the deshano company I wanted a job at assisted living when I was wondering if deshano was hiring. Seriously a frustrating experience.

When we decided to make our "cabin" a home and retire, we hired DeShano to completely gut the existing dwelling and add a two-story addition, along with all new plumbing, electrical, hard foam insulation, heating and air conditioning -- basically it was a new house. They did a FANTASTIC job!! All the workers were professional and DeShano stood behind their warranties 100%. We will always use this company for any building needs.

DeShano built my house and did an excellent job. Even my neighbor who's a retired builder commented on the quality and workmanship. There was a manufacturer defect in the flooring. When the manufacturer tried to dump it on the installer they tore out the bad material and absorbed the loss, which was more than a little money. The company is very professional and everything is in writing and done with a signed contract. There's a lot of overhead and probably costs more but it's done right.

We had DeShano Companies replace a wraparound porch and add a deck to our cottage in Northern Michigan last summer. I did a lot of shopping around to find a contractor. I am a trial attorney who has litigated more than a hundred construction disputes and know the questions to ask and the things to watch out for. With that background, I cannot say enough good words about DeShano -- Jeff Zettel worked with us through several plan iterations until we finally settled on the scope of work. The specs were complete; the price reasonable and fair; its workers showed up on the day DeShano said they would

Terrible quality construction. We purchased a DeShano home and had the builders warranty transferred to our name. Since then we have made several claims per the warranty and learned that the only person the warranty protects is DeShano. Our DeShano built home includes, no ice and water shield, buried electrical boxes, cut floor joist, improper framing, missing insulation, missing drainage tile, and voids under the concrete basement floor, all of which speak to the lack of quality building practices. Cigarette buts, candy wrappers, and garbage in the walls, as well as piles of drywall dust under
