John grew up next to a park preserving two Victorian mansions: the Bush Estate and Deepwood House. From this came a love of great houses. His interest in the humanities came from a mother who is a leading Northwest artist and a father who was fascinated by history and literature. John leads our talented design, build and remodel team with a flair for the timelessly beautiful.

The 1893 World's Fair in Chicago featured some of the grandest neoclassical buildings ever created, but they seemed too ornate and ostentatious to many of the city's young, rising architects - among them, Frank Lloyd Wright. In reaction, Wright and other enterprising architects created the first authentic American design: the Prairie style.

For years, my husband and I dreamed of redoing our finished attic space and adding dormers for our 1920's home. This dream became a reality the summer of 2019. While other companies overbid at twice our budget, John was more than happy to rise to the challenge with his creative thinking and honest communication about what to expect throughout the process. John and his team were a joy to work with -- they are professional, passionate, respectful, hard-working, full of integrity, and great communicators with timely responses. With John, you know that he has you and your family's best interest at

I grew up in a house built by McCulloch Construction. I watched John re-imagine all three floors of my home, in addition to our back patio. Even as a young kid, I could tell his attention to detail and creative vision was something special!
The fantastic quality of work aside, John has gone above and beyond in his professional relationship with us, providing friends and family with multiple employment and training opportunities. I wholeheartedly recommend his services.

I’d advise people to avoid McCulloch construction. I had a terrible experience with John and McCulloch construction remodeling my basement. Quality of the work was sub-par (e.g., walls not plumb, window wouldn’t close and had to be replaced). I got a check for the remainder of my deposit after McCulloch was off the job and the check bounced. Trying to get my money back now.
