Dr. Steven Marcello is a native of Thibodaux, Louisiana. He graduated from Thibodaux High School and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History at Tulane University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Nicholls State University.

After graduating from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in 1981, he continued his post-doctoral training in Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts from 1981 through 1985.Dr. Steve returned to Thibodaux and opened his office in 1986 where he currently specializes in Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics.
Parents of our patients have often commented that the care they and their children receive by our office staff is great. The front office staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to go the extra mile while listening to a parent's concerns. The dental assistants are all expanded E.D.D.A. (Expanded Duty Dental Assistant) certified and trained in child management.
Our office, as well as the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, recommends that your child visit the dentist by his/her 1st birthday. You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive. Your child should be informed of the visit and told that the dentist and their staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions.
For more information concerning pediatric dentistry, please visit the website for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. The pediatric dentist has an extra two to three years of specialized training after dental school, and is dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teenage years.
The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends an orthodontic screening for children by the age of 7 years. At age 7 the teeth and jaws are developed enough so that the dentist or orthodontist can see if there will be any serious bite problems in the future. Most of the time treatment is not necessary at age 7, but it gives the parents and dentist time to watch the development of the patient and decide on the best mode of treatment.
