Services
Seven Star has provided self defense training in the Seattle community for 40 years. We serve all populations including women, teens, girls, LBGTQ, deaf, men, seniors, and the homeless. We offer specialized workshops for community, private, and corporate groups. We offer self defense classes in English and Spanish.
At Seven Star, we practice the Gaylord Method of Chu'an Fa Kung Fu in the Kajukenbo system. Kajukenbo uses straight line kicks and punches from karate, the circular defense and footwork of kung fu, and the joint locks and throws of judo and jujitsu. Students learn rolling, falling, nerve attacks, and weapons.
The Beginner's Cycle is open to all individuals who identify as women and non-binary/genderfluid folks (age 13+). In this introductory series, you'll learn the basics of our kung fu style, Kajukenbo, and valuable self defense skills and strategies. Don't worry if you think you are not in shape! You will see yourself progress through the weeks as you gain strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination.
If you have a question that is not answered here or elsewhere on the site, please contact us at info@sevenstarwomenskungfu.com or call (206) 720-1046. The minimum age for Kajukenbo students at Seven Star is 13. We teach self defense to girls age 11 and up. Students under 18 need to have a parent or guardian sign their Minor Release of Claims Form.
Seven Star's building is available to rent for rehearsals, classes, parties, or other events during mornings, early afternoons, and some evenings/weekends. It's the perfect rehearsal space for martial artists, dancers, personal trainers, yoga instructors, and any movement based activities. Our building is located at 525 21st Avenue in Seattle's Central District on the corner of 21st and James.

Report
I took a self-defense class here in Volunteer park. I was nervous at first, but the instructors put me at ease. I felt so empowered, strong and ready to protect myself by the end of the class. I am looking forward to the part 2 class, as I really enjoyed the first class. I think everyone should take a class like this, and I would highly recommend at Seven Star Women's Kung Fu!
