DLAW, PC, is a firm founded in Geneva, Illinois, by me, attorney Deanna L. Aguinaga-Walker. As a lawyer with more than 21 years of experience, the flexibility of having my own law practice allows me to have personal interaction with clients and the opportunity to assist them with a diversity of legal matters.
If you think you do not have sufficient assets to need an estate plan, you are mistaken: Estate planning is important for everyone. If you are a person of average or modest means, it is arguably even more important to avoid probate and reduce the likelihood of expensive litigation. A well-thought-out estate plan allows your loved ones to focus on family and not legal matters.
When someone passes away, his or her estate must be administered. This means that the terms of the will and estate plan are carried out. If there are good estate planning documents in place, this process can often be done with little to no court oversight. Probate, on the other hand, can be a lengthy and complicated legal process, overseen by the court, that validates a will and then administers the estate.
The vast majority of the time, bankruptcy clients come to me because they have experienced an uncontrollable and unforeseen emergency such as a serious accident, illness or the loss of a job. Even if you have health or liability insurance, one emergency could place your family in serious financial trouble.

Deanna is first-class, 5 stars. She guided me through the process of closing my father’s estate, always using “plain English”, providing the big picture as well as all the steps along the way. Deanna helped me with the legal details of setting up a Revocable Trust. I have property in both Geneva, Illinois and in the US Virgin Islands. She was very quick to inform me that she is not familiar with the law in the US Virgin Islands but would be happy to work the details for Illinois. She provided me with all the details for setting up the Trust and provided me the needed council so I could work with an attorney in the US Virgin Islands to complete the property deed transfer off the mainland. She also spent time explaining the process to my Executor. She explained the Power of Attorney process
