Services
Tiger Kim's Academy since 1976, has incorporated the three major Korean martial arts of Taekwondo, Tang Soo Do and Hapkido. Founded by Grandmaster Tiger Kim, the school reflects his many years of diverse martial arts training. Literally, Taekwondo means "the way of the foot and the hand". The History and Traditions of Taekwondo can be traced back into ancient times in Korea.
Tiger Kim's Tahoe Academy is located in South Lake Tahoe. Master Mike Trisler is the head Instructor and is a 6th Dan Blackbelt in Tae kwon do, Tang Soo Do and Hapkido. Tiger Kim's Tahoe is located on Main St. on the west side of the street. If your tired of skiing and being cold come in and train hard in the real Korean martial arts from Tiger Kim's Tahoe Academy call 1-530-541-5425.
We offer Tiger Kim's Academy enrichment classes after school in select Denver Public Schools. These classes are taught on site during and after school on select days. Please check with your school for days and times. All enrichment members get a free class on Fridays and Saturdays at TKA for free during enrichment sessions.

Our child-friendly schools are the perfect setting for a unique and memorable alternative to those boring arcades and burger places.
Tiger Kim's Taekwondo program is safe and fun for students of all ages and physical abilities. Classes are supervised by certified black belt instructors. All students are taught techniques in a step by step manner and at their own pace. Because we custom tailor our course plans for each individual student, we do not discuss tuition fees over the phone or the internet.

I am a Han Mu Do student from Baton Rouge Louisiana. I was in Denver for a few days for work and reached out to GM Kim about training at this school. They welcomed me into their school, and treated me like family. I learned an incredible amount in only two days. This is a very good school, with extremely qualified teachers. Among the schools i have visited and trained at, Tiger Kim's stands out. Shin Sun!

Tiger Kim's is a stellar training facility. My daughter wanted to go by and just observe a class. She's 6. We got there and multiple kids of all ages gathered around her and said you should do it with us. We will help you get dressed and they did help. She had a most fabulous first class and is super excited everyday to go to the studio. She has different teachers everyday and the multi-generational classes are refreshing. The training and the discipline are exemplary.

My 8 year old is new to Tiger Kim's Academy and we are very happy with the communication, teachings and guidance. The staff is great too. My son is working on his yellow belt and is getting close. The teachers are patient and kind as well as giving the student time to understand the moves. Highly recommend Tiger Kim's!

I went there to buy a graphite bostaff. The owner allowed me to test the bo staff out on the mat. I dropped the bo staff and it broke. I was willing to pay for the damage but the owner told me not to worry about it and he will try to get it replaced by the manufacturer. Thank you. If I live local I would try out this place.

Tiger Kim's Academy is a great place!!! They really help my daughter with discipline and confidence, getting in front of people performing the different forms needed to advance in taekwondo, has also helped at school with confidence doing her work. The instructors are awesome!!! Highly recommend this school .

This is an excellent place to take not only your kids but yourself. I also enjoy the friendly staff at Tiger Kim's Academy. It's a very "warm" feeling environment. The teachers are great at what they do and they push people who are willing to learn to the limits of Taekwondo. Shotouts to Gene Smith who I feel does an excellent job at teaching, making class fun and being an inspiration to so many. We see ya. Keep up the excellent work all of you and much respect for Master Kim and the entire Tiger Kim Academy family !

Excellent, personalized martial arts instruction in a rigorous, tradition oriented setting. Tiger Kim's has over 4 decades of providing students aged 3-80 with a combination of mental, physical, and spiritual enrichment in the ancient arts of taekwondo and tang soo-do. Student teacher ratios are low, and Korean language and culture are emphasized strongly. I would recommend Tiger Kim's without reservation to anybody serious about martial arts practice.

My family and I have been attending Tiger Kim's for a little over a year now. The instructors do a fantastic job of blending fun in with the practice of martial arts, there is always a black belt or two around to help as you're learning new forms, and the fact that it's Denver's only school connected to the Kukkiwon (the world Taekwondo headquarters in Korea) is pretty cool. Beyond that, there's a great vibe amongst the students ... friendship and some healthy competition.

Warning ... I had a Very Bad experience. Never ever sign a contract with Master Kim. He will tell you that you can cancel or put membership on hold but the reality is Master Kim won't let you out of the contract even with a Dr. note that I supplied ... he wouldn't accept it even though it's stated in the contract.
My son wasn't committed to taking the classes and Master Kim told me to force him to go anyway. The classes are suppose to teach respect and discipline .... he should lead by example. I had to Buy out the contract/pay him off. We could have gone to court but I

We signed our son up for the 2 week trial. While we wont be enrolling him permanently (it's a 25 minute drive, just too far) these guys get my vote.
Great instructors who are patient but don't let your kid get away with BSing around.
The rates are kinda high, but fair.

My son has the opportunity to train with Master Kim, and we're all very excited!! The studio is amazing, huge, full of their thousands of trophies they have won. The store there is super stocked with all the martial arts gear you could ever want, including weapons.. there is a boxing ring, weight set, excellent location and more. I recommend Tiger Kim to anyone who is ready to take on the challenges of learning a martial art form. I recommend going at thenfive o'clock session where it is much more hands on and precise.

Our two children have been attending Tiger Kim's for the past couple of years. They really love the instructors and entire experience and always look forward to going for training and activities. We really appreciate the care and instruction offered by the instructors and administrators. It's been an all around excellent experience for us and our children.
I highly recommend Tiger Kim's for anyone serious about Tae Kwon Do in particular, or for anyone who may be seeking the perfect extracurricular activity to contribute towards their child's athleticism, social development, and discipline.
