The best way to see if our dojo is right for you and answer all of your questions is to come in and try it out! Meet our instructors and students, get a taste of our art, and learn a few cool moves while you're at it. What I enjoy the most about Wash Park Martial Arts is our thriving family culture.
Rarely do you encounter a martial art as diverse as ninpo taijutsu. Taijutsu includes striking similar to karate, throws like to those found in judo and aikido, the joint manipulation and leverage of jujutsu, traditional weaponry, and more! Developed over 900 years ago, taijutsu incorporates the warrior traditions of the samurai and the ninja into one of the most expansive self defense platforms available.
Our classes are a great way to get some exercise and learn valuable self-defense skills. Developed over 900 years ago in feudal Japan, ninpo taijutsu utilizes natural body movements and will improve your balance, coordination, and flexibility. Taijutsu is based on using superior body position, leverage, and accuracy to negate the importance of size and strength.
At Wash Park Martial Arts we provide quality martial arts training in a fun, safe, and energetic environment. Our teaching method uses the principles of the traditional martial arts as a tool for character development and teaching life skills to help lead your child to success in any chosen endeavor.
Because Kancho Minge has refused to compromise quality or cut corners in his traditional training style, few achieve this rank in the Ten-Chi-Wa Ninpo Taijutsu Program. Sensei Marc also holds multiple Dan rankings in Genbukan Ninpo Taijutsu as well a Kokusai Jujutsu Renmei. The founder and owner of Wash Park Martial Arts, Sensei Marc returns to teach classes and conduct testing several times each year.

You should check Wash Park Martial Arts out if you are looking for a fun, safe and technically great school. I am a new student to the school, joining at the beginning of the year. I knew the school had been here for years, but never stopped in. I am glad I did stop in as the style is exactly what I have been looking for. I studied martial arts as a child and then in the '90's tried to but could not find a school that was a good fit for me. I wanted was a school that focuses on technique rather than kata. I also liked the way Aikido used leverage and locks, but wanted something more direct and

My daughter began practicing at Wash Park Martial Arts in January 2017, just after she turned 10 years old. I chose Wash Park Martial Arts because it was relatively close to home and I'd heard great things about it. She's been practicing regularly for 1.5 years now and I am a huge fan of both the type of martial arts taught, and of the instructors who teach my daughter. As a parent, I love seeing how excited my daughter is to go to class! She has developed meaningful relationships with the instructors and other students, and her confidence has developed considerably. She's progressed through many

I came to Wash Park because I wanted to learn how to defend myself in life-threatening situations while I traveled. I found that most martial arts dojos claimed to do this, but often only taught one-size-fits-all techniques. Wash Park teaches you how to actually defend yourself based on your own strengths, and without the fancy flourishes. You learn to use your opponent’s weight against them using subtle techniques, so size becomes irrelevant.
I also appreciate that when you walk into the dojo, you can feel the humility and dedication to the art, without the superficial appearances of chain

A true local neighborhood gem. It's worth walking in and taking advantage of the free lessons to understand and see if it fits with what you want.

Great group, friendly non intimidating and they teach techniques that work. I say techniques that work based on personal experience. I was very much into the martial arts when I was in middle school. A decade later, after not doing anything in the martial arts, while in college I had to defend myself twice. The same type of technique worked and I ended both attacks without having to throw a single punch.

I benefit from exercising in a social

I've attended several of the Women's Self Defense Classes now and I love it! The instructors actively foster a warm, welcoming, and safe atmosphere which really helps me relax and try new things. One thing that I really appreciate is that they explain the rational behind the different moves, which helps me remember them better and makes them feel more applicable as we practice them. I feel more secure in my ability to extract myself from a dangerous situation in an effective manner, especially while I'm waiting for the light rail at night.

I started training at WPMA at the age of 47. My plan was to take a few classes and move on with my life. After all, at my age, how much martial arts training could I do? But the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the dojo, the enthusiasm and support of the instructors and students made me fall in love with the school and the art. And I loved how training improved my strength, flexibility, balance and confidence. I swear that my training has turned back the clock and made me younger.
That was twelve years ago, and I am now one of the instructors at the school. You never know what you can accomplish

I just took my first Self Defense class this weekend with Vanessa. I walked into Wash Park Martial Arts with no experience but knew I wanted to gain more knowledge with self defense. Vanessa, who was extremely welcoming, started with the basics of each move as well as the basic idea behind self defense. The other women in the class were also extremely helpful due to their knowledge and experience and helped me whenever I had questions.

Even though I have only attended once class, I already know I will be going back for more training in self defense but now I have a curiosity for all the other

Brooke is an exceptional massage therapist--she has an amazing knowledge of the body and a firm but gentle touch. She's extremely dedicated to her work--she's never satisfied until she's resolved your problem. I actually came initially for back and shoulder pain, but she's helped me with a lot of other problems too! I'd recommend her to anyone with muscular or joint complaints.

Recently the instructor of the instructor was in town and held class. I only got a few chances to train with him, but it was an exceptional experience and I took alot from it. Once again, I can't recommend this place enough, if it fits what you're looking for in a dojo. If you're looking for an MMA experience with speedo's and Affliction t-shirts, you'd be best served to go elsewhere. :)

I sifted through a lot of over priced mcDojos in Denver before I found the Kusa Dojo. The atmosphere is laid back yet manages to maintain some of the more traditional formal elements of the art.
The instructors are fantastic and everyone there is willing to help which makes learning the material a collaborative process. There is plenty of space to work which avoids overcrowding. Also, Sensei is creative with class exercises which really shows the versatility of the art.
Having originally come from Kempo karate I can say this is by far the most balanced art I have had the pleasure of learning
