White Lions Of Shaolin
With 25 years in business, our school offers three of the most authentic and extensive Kung Fu systems in the world. Choy Li Fut and Yang Tai Chi Chuan as handed down by Grandmaster Doc Fai Wong and traditional Wing Chun taught by Grandmaster William Cheung.

Choy Li Fut Kung Fu is a traditional Shaolin martial system, that combines the agile footwork, kicking and leg maneuvers of Northern Chinese martial arts with the intricate Southern Chinese hand techniques. It is one of the most complete and effective arts for both health and self-defense. Famous for its graceful and gently flowing movements, Tai Chi emphasizes calming the mind and releasing mental and physical tension.

Choy Li Fut (Cantonese),, or Cai Li Fo (Mandarin) Kung Fu is a traditional martial arts system based on Shaolin martial arts from the Shaolin Temple. It combines the agile footwork of Northern Chinese Martial Arts with the intricate Hand Techniques of the Southern Kung Fu styles, making Choy Li Fut one of the most complete and effective styles for health and self-defense.
Tai Chi Chuan is an ancient Chinese Martial Art, well known for its superior health benefits and high level of effectiveness in combat. Its forms are performed in a slow and relaxed manner, which calms the mind and releases the mental and physical tensions of our modern stressful lifestyle.

As a martial art, Tai Chi Chuan uses the theory of "four ounces of strength against a ton of force, " repelling the opponent without resorting to force against force.Famous for its graceful and gently flowing movements, Tai Chi emphasizes calming the mind and releasing mental and physical tension.
Wing Chun Kung Fu is a Chinese martial arts system that specializes in close range combat. Its techniques emphasize practicality and efficiency by using deflection and counter-attack in the same motion rather than blocking then attacking in two separate motions. Wing Chun believes in using the least amount of required force in any fighting situation.
Before every group class is a 30-minute structured Stretch Class that gives the students the opportunity to warm up in a class environment and to work on building greater flexibility. Immediately following the Stretch Class in an hour-long Group Class where students practice the techniques they have already learned with an emphasis on improving endurance and strength.
The stretching program at the White Lions of Shaolin is considered to be an important part of each student's development for two reasons. First, the effectiveness of self defense techniques is directly associated with flexibility. A lack of flexibility translates into a lack of mobility, speed, power, fluidity and relaxation.

I would not recommend Sifu Giatrakis as an instructor. His conduct made it very uncomfortable for me to train under him. While knowledgeable, dedicated, charismatic and experienced in his field, this is evident by his years teaching inside and outside the dojo, along with his resilience in moving forward with the direction of White Lions and the recognition that he has received over the years. But if you are going to join, there are some things I feel that you need to be informed upon. First of all, there's a big reason why the Shaolin Wu-Yi Institute in Plano, TX came about...to distance themselves

I took lessons from Sifu Giatrakis several years ago, first at the community college then at his dojo. I moved away due to military service, however I still remember the time there fondly! You will not find a better Sifu and a better Shaolin dojo anywhere else in Texas. I couldn't recommend them more.

I was 345 lbs when I started classes under Sifu this past spring. I am now 315 lbs, having lost more than 30lbs of fat and gained athletic muscle mass. When I used to be around 200, I couldn't do what I did yesterday! I lept over our four foot fence like it was a saddle horse! What's weird is that there hasn't been any jumping up in my Choy Li Fut training. It is excellent and useful exercise that is low impact on heavy joints. Come get coordinated, strong, and better than baddn's at hand to hand combat!

White lions is unlike any other school I've encountered. Sifu teaches immediate applications for all of the skills, and excellent guidance for both the mental and physical progression in kung fu.
As a very out of shape beginner I've never once felt embarrassed or out of place, and can't really ever see myself not wanting to keep learning from White Lions.

I've been a student of Sifu Giatrakis coming up on 6 months now, and i felt it necessary to address the comments made by Anthony Renwick seeing as that what he said couldn't be further from the truth. Although I have to respect Anthony's opinion and input, it saddens me greatly to read such awful misrepresentations of a man I've come to deeply respect and look up to. Sifu Giatrakis is someone I count myself blessed to train under, and I haven't regretted joining his school even one moment since I started. He genuinely cares about his students and the traditional martial arts he is passing on to

Sifu Giatrakis also teaches the self-defense class at Brookhaven College. I took his class almost by accident but it turned out to be an incredible experience. I am a current student of his at both Brookhaven College and White Lions. My original intention was to find and incorporate some kind of physical activity into my daily life. I began in the fall semester of 2013, after six weeks of Choy Li Fut I noticed my back and knees were stronger, my flexibility had increased and my stamina was improving. After giving birth to my first child in January of last year, it was a great relief to be nearly

Sifu Giatrakis is a true kung fu teacher and practitioner. He not only teaches 3 authentic systems of kung fu but he also knows how to relate to people and real life situations. In addition to the artistic and fluid forms you will learn how to apply each and every movement to a real situation. Application is something that is often missing from schools today, but not this one. If you are looking for a martial art that can be used as self defense and maybe even change your perspevtive on life, go to the White Lions of Shaolin and experience it for yourself.

FAIR NOTICE:
Posts are almost all anonymous Google User. This is a ploy that should not be given credence. However good or bad the Shifu is; is a separate issue. I place a 4 star. I do not want to damage his school. I post because of the rampant abuse of the review systems; see how obviously it is being gamed both to the positive and to the negative and the environment tends to corrupt the participants both ways. Don't be manipulated. Think for yourself. Google users are generally not legitimate students or reliable witnesses of verifiable fact. If they are they should want to identify themselves

An establishment that purveys Kung Fu must wear a few hats in my opinion to be successful. When I looked for a place to learn, I knew I wanted someone confident and experienced in physical fitness, body mechanics, the martial art, teaching, and practical self defense. Also, I knew it would not be realistic to find a Shaolin Temple in the immediate area and searched for a style that would do. The White Lions of Shaolin became my choice after reading about Choy Li Fut and the impressive documented lineage. When visiting and then joining the school, I found that I had been missing out on something
