Services
The building was built in 1926 specifically as a funeral home by the Streeper Funeral Home family. Shortly after opening, it was realized that people were mistaking Gray Memorial Chapel as a church, so the name was changed to Gray Funeral Home. Laren and Glen were both born in Alton, Laren graduated Roxana High School in 1961, Glen graduated Roxana High in 1965.
Staff members of GRAY FUNERAL HOME INC. are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors. Glen was born in Alton, and moved to South Roxana in 1952 Glen graduated Roxana High in 1965.
Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.
Many who have undergone the emotional strain of arranging a funeral within hours of losing a loved one have made the choice to pre-plan their own funeral. Doing so lifts the burden from their loved ones by relieving decision-making pressure at a time of grief and emotional stress. Funeral arrangements are a deeply personal choice.
Most of us are not prepared to plan and carry out a funeral ceremony for someone we love. And so much of the information available on this critically important subject fails to focus on what is most important: having a personalized, meaningful funeral that helps families and friends begin the healing process of mourning after the death of someone we love.

The most caring and professional staff in this business. They go the extra mile to help you memorialize your loved ones in a beautiful and loving way that helps ease the pain during a difficult time of loss. I have used Gray Funeral Home for two of my most cherished family members' services and am so very glad to have had them there to help take care of the small details that make all the difference during a time of grief and so many other emotions. Thank you so much to everyone at Gray Funeral Home!

If you chose Gray's or any other funeral home for that matter, do not let them handle the insurance policies. Do not tell them how much money you are expecting to recieve from insurance either. Have the insurance company pay you and then you pay the funeral home. Have them give you a quote in writing before you agree to use their services. Remember they are in business to make money.

This funeral home does an amazing job! Stephen Gray does the absolute best make up I have ever seen. When my step father passed, I walked in expecting him to look like all corpses. Heavily made up and not natural at all. My surprise when I arrived at the coffin, he look totally like himself. I was amazed and that made my grief easier. Then 4 months later when my husband passed away after a very short illness, their compassion and helpful nature, was unmet in the funeral home business. Would I use this funeral home again? Absolutely! As a matter of fact I carry their business card in my wallet with
