I dropped in for a class on my first day in SF and ended up sticking around! The instruction is excellent & the facilities are very clean. There are a lot of high level grapplers to train with & various styles of instruction, like Sambo, NoGi, Gi, AcroYoga & Muay Thai. Stefan, the head professor, is a beast on the mats & an even better instructor. Stop by if you are in the area!

Amazing grappling facility for kids and adults. The kids teachers are extremely skilled and well-versed in dealing with kids. The adults classes are fun, encouraging, and inviting for all skill levels. Highly recommend trying it out - I know they give away your first week of unlimited classes for free.

I trained here for a little bit under two years during my time at Cal. I would say that my time here has been on par with my cal education in terms of difficulty lol, yet vastly more rewarding. I felt so anxious every class I attended but went anyways. And I'm glad I did. The learning curve is really high but the coaches here are really good. Not only are the coaches good at coaching, but they all still compete and keep up with the trends of combat sports. You can tell they love what they do. They will push you and bring the best out of you. But like anything in life, you get what you put

Stephan Goyne has that rare mix of being an excellent fighter and
competitor, an excellent teacher, and having a way with kids. His
classes offer everything from top competitive moves for the serious
BJJ competitor, to confidence and coordination building exercises for
kids who need a focus in their life.

Excellent class with Chris in the morning. Good for beginners like me, but also seems to be useful for higher level guys as well. Chris has a gift for instruction: he is calm and methodical, and good at explaining why we do what we do. When I leave class I often find myself hoping for the next one to arrive soon.

Bay Jiu Jitsu rocks! I came to the first class with no gi and no clue, and by the end of class, I couldn't wait for next week. From the beginning drills that get your heart pumping, through the choreographed moves to teach technique, Stephan made everything clear and doable even for a beginner. Since I was nervous about wrestling with much bigger strangers, I got to practice with another woman my size, and seeing a very advanced woman demonstrate some techniques made me optimistic!

It's not as macho as other gyms, welcoming of all identities, and a friendly space for women! Plus, Stephan

I'm a BJJ purple belt who's been training for 8 years. I've moved around a lot and have been a member of 5 different gyms on both coasts and have visited about 9 other gyms during my BJJ career. My wife and I have been training at Bay Jiu Jitsu Berkeley since moving here 7 months ago.

I can unequivocally say that Bay Jiu Jitsu Berkeley is the best gym I have ever trained at.

Instruction:
Reilly Bodycomb, the head coach at the Berkeley branch, is a fantastic instructor. After taking a single class with Reilly, it will be clear to you that he not only possesses the skills of a high

This review is mostly of the Berkeley location, since that is were I train. I cannot say enough about how amazing the teaching is here! When I first moved up to the East Bay area, I tried out another gym before coming to Bay Jiu-Jitsu, and it was terrible. Then I went to Bay Jiu-Jitsu and the difference was like night and day. The coaches actually take the time to instruct and pay attention to the students. We actually work on building skills in class that are useful, not just showy "cool guy" moves. The atmosphere has always been welcoming. As a woman training in a predominantly male

Kid classes review.
While one of the coach is fun and encouraging the other one clearly doesn't love children and look like he'd rather be elsewhere.
The levels are by age only and they, more particularly this RBF coach, expect the new coming to catch up with other children, this is not how open enrollment are supposed to work.
i'd definitely remove the " self esteem " in children part of your advertisements.

Love this gym. Instructors are friendly, personable, and have a ton of experience. It's very friendly to women, fosters a healthy and accepting environment, and is a nice, clean facility. It's easily my favorite gym I've been a member of in the past 7 years I've been training.

My 5 year old LOVES his ju jitzu classes and coach Stephen. Let's just say sitting still is not in my sons DNA and coach Stephen gets him to actually (sort of) pay attention. We just signed up for a year commitment because of the coach.

What's up with coaches at Bay Jiu Jitsu always being late to practice or just not showing up all together. Not cool, unprofessional, disrespectful of kids and family's time, repeat problem.

Came here with my wife for Allison's Acro Yoga class (our first time doing Acro) and we had an awesome time. The class was extremely engaging and fun, and we learned a few poses that we've been practicing outside of class. We will definitely be back for more classes!

This place is awesome, and Stephan and Phom are the best of the best!! I looked all over the East Bay for a place for my son to learn martial arts, and this was by far and away the highest quality I've seen. The teachers are so kind, and they blend discipline and hard work with fun for the perfect combination. My son has learned so much, and has acquired self-confidence and social skills to boot. Try Bay Jiu-Jitsu--you will not be disappointed! :)

This new space is going to be great!

I've been training with Stephan Goyne for many years. My two boys have been in his Jiu-Jitsu classes since they were old enough to wear Gis and they LOVE it. We go several times a week.
Stephan is amazing with the kids, you can tell he loves what he does. I've been in the Martial Arts for 30 years, I've seen a lot of other Kids MA programs and there is nothing like this out there. The kids have a great time and they learn skills they can use right now.

But, don't take my word for it, come on in and try a class out. First class is always
