Group Care Global
Group Care Global is a non-profit dedicated to promoting a group care model based on the CenteringPregnancy model developed in the United States in the early 1990's by a nurse-midwife, Sharon Schindler Rising. Over 200 published studies have documented better health outcomes for mothers and babies and increased satisfaction with care.

Group Care Global's mission is to promote group health care for mothers, infants, partners, and their families to improve maternal and child health and well-being. To support this mission, Group Care Global consults with international partners to integrate group care and its evaluation into their health system.
Services
Doug Laube, MD, recently retired as Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin. During his tenure the department experienced unprecedented growth in faculty as well as in research funding. In May of 2006, Dr. Laube became President of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) following a year as President Elect.
Peg is an RN with an advanced degree of public health. She has spent her career working to eliminate racial disparities as well as to create and build health programs that empower women and families. Peg lives in Chicago, works part time in a neighborhood health center as well as at CHI. She has been involved with Centering groups since 2006.

The consultation and training provided to international sites interested in implementing group antenatal or postpartal care is based on the CenteringPregnancy and CenteringParenting models and is called, Centering-Based Group Care. The model has three components: Health Care, Interactive Learning, and Community Building and a set of 9 Definers that provide substance to each component and provide guidance for measures of evaluation and research.
A training workshop for group prenatal care occurred in September at Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University in Shenshen, China. Although Helen and I (Sharon) had been in discussion for over a year about a possible workshop in China the opportunity arose quickly necessitating rapid preparation and securing of a training staff.
