Cape Fear Debt Relief was founded by attorney Richard P. Cook. After completing his undergraduate and law school degrees at UNC-Chapel Hill, Richard worked as an attorney in Winston-Salem representing the banks and collection agencies. He returned to Wilmington in 2010 to help people in the Cape Fear Region recover from the economic hardships facing them today.

Frequently, only a fraction of the debts an individual owes are repaid in the Chapter 13, however, upon competition of the Chapter 13 Plan, most of the remaining debts are discharged (eliminated).

After meeting another Wilmington bankruptcy attorney by phone after seeing his ad for a book about bankruptcy, I just didn't trust his cookie cutter recommendation when I received his court paperwork in the mail. I've been very frustrated with the services each week something new keeps happening that I need to submit. It would be really nice if the office staff was more organize and can tell me everything they need upfront. The services were better when I filed my chapter 13 they gave me a big booklet of everything I needed to do. Hopefully after I finish this class and paperwork nothing else pops up. Richard Cook is a great lawyer just wish his staff was more organize. Spamming me every week with something new is definitely stressful. Please give clients a list of everything the trustee needs moving forward

I filed a chapter 7 case with this office. It was a great experience in an otherwise awful time in my life. Not sure on a previous review saying his staff asked for things, as a lot of items are required to file, but I knew that. I think the staff is great, I have recommended this firm to others who are finding themselves in a crisis due to our current pandemic.
