Campeche Restaurant has been serving Authentic Mexican Food since the late 1970's. What does "Campeche" mean? Well, Campeche is actually a city in Mexico located on the Gulf of Mexico, where grandma was born. Grandma was the original CEO and Founder of Campeche Restaurant! She wanted to name the company after her hometown since the majority of her recipes are from there.
Our family recipes have been passed down for 3 generations including her Famous Homemade Margaritas and Pico de Gallo. The company first started in 1978 in the Chicagoland area and has been family owned ever since. With 5 locations in the North Side of Chicago and the latest one here in Galena, IL.

We actually went to Galena to go to another restaurant but found it closed for dining in. We noticed Campeche as we walked from our parking space to the other place and decided to check it out. We were happily surprised. The only available seating was at the bar, which was fine. We noticed the tequila collection and I asked the bartender for a recommendation and enjoyed a couple of nice options. The house margarita was also tasty. We really liked the house pico de gallo while we waited on our food, which came quickly. I thoroughly enjoyed the conchinita pibil and my wife really liked the al pastor

Wow! This was the most blend Mexican food I've ever had. The burrito tasted like hamburger meat straight up. My husband's tacos as well. He asked for onions for it and was told they didn't have any!?!. No Flavor. Rice left something to be desired. Seriously the worst most disappointing Mexican food. I am glad to say the salsa that came with the chips was good and so fresh.

There was a wait for tables both inside and outside, but we were allowed to order drinks at the bar and wait on the rooftop patio. Service at the bar was a bit slow, but we learned it was the first day for one of the employees, so we weren’t too upset. We enjoyed our wait on the rooftop patio, although it did end up being a bit longer than described since we opted not to squeeze our 3 person party at a 2 person table.
Once we were seated, the server was very quick to visit our table. We perused the menu and opted for al pastor flautas and the $2 tacos. As a relatively picky eater, I was glad

My husband i and headed here for dinner while visiting Galena. We thought the roof top area was great for the views.
We both enjoyed a flight of margaritas which was all delicious! While the queso left a lot to be desired (very thin and runny) the flour tortilla chips for it were very good! We enjoyed their taco special. Definitely chicken over beef was the favorite! Our server was named Savanna and she was wonderful!!! Definitely swing on by to this little gem around the corner, if you ever find yourself in Galena!
