Needham DBS is an award winning, structural engineering firm with offices located in Fort Wayne, Indiana and Lenexa, Kansas. The firm designs buildings for architects, design-build contractors, developers, and individual owners. The firm was started in Fort Wayne by Jeff Needham after a career in the steel industry and immediately began serving clients with creative engineering solutions, particularly in the design-build market.
The firm was an early adopter of computer modeling and wrote and developed early versions of 3D modeling software. A Kansas City area office was established in 1995. Today, Needham DBS uses multiple modeling packages and design approaches to provide clients with optimal, cost effective projects across a range of project types.

Needham DBS supplies fabricated structural steel products based on proprietary designs developed by our own engineering staff. Once a preliminary design is created, fixed costs are determined by pricing through a select group of AISC certified steel fabricators. By using the CD2 process and internal shop drawing reviews, the delivery schedules can be reduced by weeks.
The pre-engineered building market covers a wide range of products from complete building systems to components only such as wall panels and metal, standing-seam roofs. Also included in these systems are insulation products designed to meet the stringent requirements of the latest energy codes.

Needham DBS supplies various concrete products based on our own proprietary designs or sub-contractor supplied data. The approach is very similar to our structural steel work using a CD2 process, but the deliverables are quite different since much of the work must be done by the contractor at the site.
Needham DBS has unique engineering and product knowledge that allows the best attributes of conventional steel to be combined with the benefits of pre-engineered buildings. This can be as simple as adding a mezzanine to a pre-engineered building, or as complex as a steel mill designed with a mix of pre-engineered and conventional products.
