Services
West Oaks Private Pre-School and Grandma's House Child Care have been providing childcare focused on building social and academic skills to the West Oaks, Katy, and Alief regions of West Houston, since 1984. At our school each child is viewed as a unique person with an individual pattern and timing for growth and development.
Children must be given the opportunity to form a positive self concept and develop at a challenging, stimulating and realistic pace. Grandma's House offers your child a place with the finest, brightest environment with the latest in educational toys and equipment. This atmosphere, combined with the well designed programs for each age group, creates a superb school for your child to learn, play and grow.
Our Pre-School and Pre-Kindergarten daycare classrooms recently underwent a major renovation thanks to our partnership with Alief ISD. These classrooms have been outfitted with new furniture, learning materials, technology (iPads for the children) and laptops for the teachers. We have a 4000 sq ft, Air-Conditioned Gymnasium where children get to play on any of those rainy or very hot days that Houston is known for year around.
Gardens are a wonderful learning tool and life experience for children of all ages. Most children have a natural curiosity of plant and animal life that naturally translates into a love for gardening. This interest in gardening then carries over into the school subjects that are related to the garden.
Our infant daycare program is for babies from the age of 6 weeks through 18 months of age. Our first classroom (Nursery I) is generally for babies from 6 weeks to approximately 12 months and our next nursery program is for babies from 12 months to approximately 18 months.
We take into consideration each individual child's developmental progress before transitioning from class to class so the transitions to Nursery II may occur a few months earlier or post their 1st birthday. Our Nursery classes are all about learning and skill development. Our teachers devise age/skill appropriate activities and experiences based on developmental checklists and our center wide weekly theme.

My babies have been going here for over 2 years now and I have loved every minute. I was so hesitant and emotional about putting my babies in daycare but I’m so glad I did! My babies love it here. I love that they even have a private school attached so when it is time for my babies to start school they can stay with the same people. The directors are absolutely amazing and I can’t thank them enough! My babies are so advanced for their ages and I feel great knowing that they are not just having fun with friends they are actually learning.

My daughter has been attending here for about 3 years now and we absolutely love it. From the time I stepped in the doors the very first day it just felt so welcoming. They always make her feel comfortable and they're very helpful towards her growth always encouraging her confidence and helping her learn new things along the way. We are very grateful for everyone at the establishment!

My kids have been here for years and love it here. The staff really cares about the kids and are focused on them improving academically and socially. The communication is great for parents and they have kept the center safe for everyone during covid. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Grandmas House is a good quality childcare facility. They are clean and well maintained. You know the saying it takes a village to raise a kid? My children have been nurtured by them for the past 3 years and they love going. Of course they have their favorite teachers, but I love them all. I've noticed that they have very few teachers that come and go and that too me says alot. They are reliable teachers that keep you informed whether it's a good day or a bad day. The children are learning at every age and it's amazing to see them grow throughout the years. My oldest was prepared for Kindergarten

I have had 2 children at Grandma's House over the past 7 years or so. I absolutely love all of staff and can tell they have a genuine care for the children. I trust that they will always do what is in the best interest of the children.

I only had my son there for three months and during that time he developed the Flu, Hand Foot & Mouth Disease, and threw up twice while there and they couldn't tell me what he ate. My son started a week later than the date because I coparent with his father in Atlanta for your information. My son threw up at 4pm. Since when does someone drop their child off at 4 in the afternoon. I live 15 mins away. Was called at 6pm. Grabbed Tylenol and was there at 6:30 so where's the 4 hours and please tell me where I could've gone? I am the one who pointed out that you all do not require

I was able to find this daycare when I was rushing to find a new daycare for my child. I really like that the front door is locked, and that nobody can just open the door. There's usually always someone at the front desk, so that also makes me feel good about this location. They have an outdoor play area for each age group, that is gated. The teachers are all amazing and welcoming, and my child loves them! There's lots to do in the classroom, and I enjoy getting his work sent home so I can see how well he is progressing. They also do fun little themes/events, so that mixes it up and lets

I believe that all parents want the best for our children. Although I'm an educator, I believe that catering to a child's learning style is what makes the difference in any learning environment. After moving to Houston from Florida, my oldest son began attending Grandma's House. He was three years old then. Not only did he learn a lot and was well-prepared for Kindergarten, but he also enjoyed his time and was able to be a child and PLAY. Children learn immensely through play and Grandma's House has the type of facilities that allow them to do just that. A year ago, I had another baby boy. I had

A very good school. My daughter attended from baby to pre-k. We still have fond memories of some of the teachers, notably Ms. Theresa made a huge positive impact on my daughter's life. Such a wonderful person. Also Ms. Dely and Ms. Marlene gave my daughter much love and wonderful care as a baby. My only concern was my daughter stopped speaking for almost a year when she was in Ms. Bita and Ms. Melba's class. But Ms. Sandra, kind and responsive, runs a tight ship and moved my daughter when requested. I recommend the school.

My daughter started at Grandma's House when she was about 4 months old and was there until she was almost 2 years old when we had to move out of state. My daughter was quite happy there. She learned a lot while she was there and I could tell that she was having a lot of fun especially when she moved to Toddler 1. The daycare is clean and well maintained. The teachers and staff are dedicated to the children and several of them have been there for a long time. The owner and the director are nice and professional. Also, the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful which was one of the things that drew me

My 3 month old went there for 3 weeks then we decided to take her out. We had to tell them more than once to change her diaper, we would pick her up and it would be extremely full. So full once that it was leaking on her clothes. Her face was always dirty when we picked her up as well.
Everytime we went to pick her up for the day she would always be in a swing. We purposely would pick her up each day at a different time and she would be in a swing.
We asked if there were cameras for viewing over the internet and they said no, but we could come in anytime and view the video tape from the
