Located on Charlestown Rd in New Albany, IN Latimer Animal Hospital is a state of the art facility than can handle all of your pets' needs. Dr. Matthew S. Latimer is a native of Southern Indiana and Dr. Emily A. Latimer grew up in Bowling Green, KY. After high school they attended Western Kentucky University where they met.
They married in 2009 while attending Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. After completing their clinical rotations at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, they graduated from veterinary school in 2012. My name is Allie! I graduated the veterinary technician program from Brown Mackie in 2016 and have been in the field ever since.

Latimer Animal Hospital is proud to serve the New Albany, IN area for everything pet-related. Our veterinary clinic and animal hospital is run by Dr. Matthew S. Latimer, who is a licensed, experienced Indiana veterinarian. Our team is committed to educating our clients in how to keep your pets healthy year round, with good nutrition and exercise.
Pet Wellness Exams- Latimer Animal Hospital recommends a complete nose to tail physical at least once a year and a detailed screening. In-house Laboratory- Latimer Animal Hospital offers a full service diagnostic laboratory that allows us to perform a wide array of services. Health Maintenance Services- We have high standards in treating your pet, but we don't just want to treat as they get sick, we want to prevent any illness or disease.
In your search for a veterinary facility, we believe you should expect high quality care as well as great service. Our goal has been to assemble a veterinary health care team committed to providing exceptional client service and veterinary health care. Our commitment to you is to continue to offer our world class service and a state of the art veterinary facility.
1. Payment is expected when services are rendered. In order to focus on our patients' needs, customer service and minimizing costs, we do not bill. 2. We accept debit cards, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover) checks and cash. All cards must be signed by the owner of the card. 3. When unexpected illness strikes a pet, unexpected expense strikes as well.

We were a historical client until recently. Called at 8 am on a weekday for help with a sudden and urgent illness with my dog. The office was unwilling to work us in without a scheduled appointment even though it was an extremely urgent illness (vomiting & bloody diarrhea). This is the second time in the last year this has happened. Two different pets; one with an urgent issue to diabetes and the second with a life or death gastrointestinal issue. We will NOT be a client any longer. They are fine for regularly scheduled checkups but no help or compassion in an emergency.

Called today, because my Yorkie was not acting like normal. I have been a client before, so they are the vet I go to when my baby needs a doctor. I was told that the first appointment was June 22nd!!! I asked, since she is already a client of the vet, that I could get her in sooner since she wasn't well now? She told me that I hadn't been to them since 2018, as if that meant I wasn't important enough, or had spent enough money there to get a appointment for my sick dog. What kind of vet just leaves you with a sick dog and no appointment for a month? Latimer Animal Hospital, that's who. They should

Terrible! Totally misdiagnosed my kitten. Had us putting in medicine that was expensive and DID NOT WORK! When medicine did not work, they had us buy more. When her eye got really bad we called for an emergency visit we were told they couldn’t get her in for a month with her eye ready to pop out of her head!!! Went to Shively Animal Clinic where they diagnosed her with a hole in her eye and told us that any Good vet should have caught it! The inside of her eye was trying to squeeze out through the hole. She had been in extreme pain this whole time.

Absolutely love the staff at Latimer Animal Hospital! They were so friendly and welcoming during this crazy hectic time. The information clients receive upon arriving was clear and easy to follow. Pet parents weren’t allowed inside, but the lovely staff met us at our car to take in my pet! I felt like all my concerns were addressed, and not rushed. I also like that they schedule appointments online, and seem very up to date on technology.
