Services
We understand that there are many reasons that our clients may want to purchase medications from online retailers or outside pharmacies instead of directly from us. To assist you in making the most informed decision for your pet, we want to be very clear that we recommend that you purchase products only from a properly accredited and certified veterinary pharmacy.

Each year, more than 3 million cats and dogs are euthanized at U.S. animal shelters. That's about half of all cats and dogs that enter shelters. And you can bet someone's beloved Fluffy or Fido is among those that suffer the avoidable fate of euthanasia. What if there were a way to prevent these tragic deaths?
The nutritional needs of our animal family members vary depending on their age, weight, and activity level. At Pioneer Animal Hospital, we are happy to answer your questions about the dietary needs of your canine and feline family members and regularly include nutritional counseling as part of our pet wellness exams.

Dr. Basham is so very kind and incredibly professional. I have been dealing with an aggressive behavioral situation with one of my 4 dogs for a few years and this past weekend was the worst situation yet. Dr. Basham was so tender with me, understanding the idea of surrendering him was heart breaking for me, she took the time to professionally explain AGAIN "I cap because she's done it so many times already", why it's the best solution for not only the aggressive one but the other 3 who reside in the stress. Additionally she reassured me that we did all we could as owners and

I've been to most of the vets in the clackamas area I'd highly recommend this one over others. They're currently only seeing new patients in between their regular appointments and even then the vet really took the time to go over everything with me and make sure all our issues were addressed and taken care of. They even sent us home with this new puppy kit that had a lot of really great info and a sample of the flea and heartworm medicine they recommend.

Reliable, professional yet also personal and sensitive to your and your pet's needs. We were referred to Pioneer by a friend and are SO happy they did! A very wide area of expertise and knowledge, yet they aren't afraid to admit when they don't have an answer and need to do some further invetstigation. They will listen to your questions and also your suggestions without making you feel foolish about it. The very best!

So I had appointments in May for my 2 dogs- annual exams, shots, etc. The yearly full check-up and vaccinations. Then in June, days before going out of town and boarding them, I try to get a refill of heart worm and also flea/ tick meds. They respond that the dogs are overdue for their heart worm tests, and they won't refill the meds until the tests happen. I wonder why they didn't do them when we were there in May, or notify me or anything. Then I ask for just the flea and tick meds immediately, so they could be boarded, and said I'd do the heart worm test and get those meds in

We used to be very happy there, but not sure what is going on. It is absolute incompetence now. We have been trying for over a week to get a simple allergy medication for our dog and this vet claims that they never received anything from Walgreens requesting it, that they never received any phone calls requesting it, and that they had no idea what medication the dog was on. Now our dog is vomiting, most likely from withdrawals. I just called Pioneer and I was made to wait almost 5 minutes because they didn't couldn't find the medication in her chart (the dog has only been on it a year

I love the vets and vet techs here. They do have higher prices but that is because they are AAHA accredited. Look it up, it means they meet higher standards for care than most other vet clinics. These folks truly care for pets. My cats have had top notch, fast and compassionate care over the years. Do your pets and yourself a favor and give them better care. You get what you pay for here.

Absolutely wonderful experience with Dr. Redmond today. She was perfect with our reactive and at times aggressive dog. She treated him with so much respect and concern, which was the opposite of our experience at another local vet. Our mood, grumpy cat even was perfectly at ease here! They definitely have earned 5 stars in my book!

Pioneer Animal Hospital (formerly Clackamas County Veterinary Clinic) has been my pets' vet for over five years. The staff is excellent. They've helped me with tough decisions when it was time to euthanize my cats (two cats on two separate occasions) and have cared for my grouchy old Chihuahua mix (15+ years old) with great compassion. Previously, I'd taken my dog to another vet clinic - where I was required to administer doggie downers prior to taking him in for a claw trim. The staff at Pioneer Animal Hospital is adept at wrangling The Grouch so that no pre-claw trim meds are
