GAHC is proud to be a Low Stress Handling(R) Certified Veterinary Practice. This means that we will immediately assess body language, approach and interact in a safe, non-threatening manner, handle and provide nursing care to your pet in the most efficient, gentle way without causing extreme fear, anxiety, or stress.
At GAHC, we take patient safety as our top priority. In order to minimize risk, your pet will have presurgical blood work. This includes a Complete Blood Count or CBC, a 17-panel chemistry profile, electrolytes, a thyroid test, and an early kidney disease detection test called an SDMA.
These tests help us to determine if your pet is healthy enough for surgery, what drugs are indicated as safest for the individual patient, and if there are any other concerns to be aware of prior to anesthesia induction. We also want your pet to be up-to-date on vaccines, their fecal exam, heartworm prevention and heartworm testing prior to surgery as well.

GAHC offers a full line of vaccines for dog and cats. We follow the American Veterinary Medical Association Vaccine Guidelines and use the latest technology available to make the vaccine process safer and more comfortable. Our vaccines are not the old technology that can be purchased at local feed stores.

Many years ago I took my dog to Dr. Woods. I moved away and my mom started using her. My mom got very ill and couldn’t take her dying pet in so Dr Woods went to her. Now I am back. We adopted a kitten from pet smart come to find out the kitten was overdosed with meds and therefore has neurological issues. She is always willing to do what she can to get us in. Tomorrow we have to put the kitten down as she is getting really bad. Dr Woods will be comforting to my son who is ASD as well as fit us in to take this poor baby out of her misery. Thank you so much Dr Woods. PS we live 45 min away and

If you care about your furry kids you won’t go to this vet. We were treated so horribly by the vet tech I am concerned about how our pets were treated when we aren’t with them. She snapped at us as soon as we entered the front door. Then when I rejected the micro chip for our indoor cat she lectured me on not taking care of my cat. This isn’t our first visit to this vet but it is certainly our last ! The convenience of using a local vet is far outweighed by the stress of dealing with the vet tech who has been rude and confrontational from the first moment she started working there. She either

Stopped in here to grab a toy for our 🐈(Karma), so no experience with actual veterinary services (yet). I also stopped in last summer for advice re: a neighborhood tomcat that had sort of 'adopted' my daughter & me. Staff here were very friendly & helpful on both occasions. Taking Karma for her first appt in August-will update then 🙂
