Walk into any [decent] bar or club in Chicago or Austin and you will see the DJ using either Serato or Traktor digital DJ software. Since we are inherently bar / club DJ's, we of course use these programs as well. As much as we love, no iTunes DJ's here. Al and his team will put you at ease and make sure that everything is done exactly how you want it!
If I could give more than 5.0 stars I definitely would. We still can't stop talking about how absolutely perfect our DJ was. He was funny, laid-back, personable, super friendly and most importantly he got my entire family to dance! This is our flagship service. We are DJ's first and foremost and our passion is rocking events. All Okyne Medialab DJ's have backgounds spinning in bars & clubs which is one of the things that sets us apart. Over the years we have partnered with the best vendors in the city to provide amazing backdrops, uplighting, pinspotting and other decor for your event at great rates.
Okyne Medialab is not your traditional entertainment company. We are known in the industry as the young, fun, cool DJ company. Al Okyne started Okyne Medialab in 2004 for the sole purpose of redefining the cliche "wedding DJ" and bring a whole new energy to the entertainment industry, especially for weddings.

We hired Okyne Medialab to provide a jazz trio and DJ at our wedding. Both exceeded our expectations. We received very positive feedback from attendees about the jazz trio. Additionally, it seemed like the dance floor was packed the entire night. Our DJ did a fantastic job mixing our diverse song requests and reading the energy of the crowd. The owner of the company, Al, was really responsive to emails while planning for my client's wedding. On the day of the wedding, the DJ Marcus was amazing. Our wedding planner had recommended Okyne Media Lab to us, and we absolutely love them! You can tell they are organized by their initial meeting. They go over the process, and show you how to utilize their online tools. The Okyne team was great to work with. Each person we spoke to was friendly, highly communicative and accommodating. Al and Bekah were especially patient with us and answered all our questions. Mixed 3 star review. To clarify, we'd give the pre-wedding planning, communication, portal itself and the post-wedding feedback session 5 stars. But the actual day-of with DJ Alan would be 1 star. We went into our wedding with the expectation that things could go wrong but to enjoy the day nonetheless. We hired them both as a DJ and a live cello and violin duet for the ceremony. We also hired them for our small covid wedding last year and our larger 2nd wedding this year. Okyne was super responsive and handled all of our requests with ease. We cannot thank Al and Stacy enough for accommodating us between last year and this year! Our guests were ranting and raving about how great the live music was as well as our DJ! My family had some unusual song requests as well and it all went perfectly! The website they utilize for creating playlists and suggesting must play, want to play, and do not play songs is very user friendly and an awesome feature to have. We spoke with the owner a couple weeks before the wedding to discuss our plan for our wedding day and the vibe we wanted to put out on the dance floor and he was great and totally understood our vision. Al and Stacy made the entire planning process easy and seamless. They provided me with an intuitive online portal where I could search, select songs, and build a timeline for the cellist & violist (Dorothy & Bruno). Hired Okyne for our wedding. They had really easy to use planning tools and held all pre-wedding planning meetings over Zoom rather than asking us to come into out office. Plus they were extremely flexible with our schedules (held one meeting at 8 PM - thanks fo that Okyne!). This was the only wedding vendor we had an issue with out of the 8 vendors we had contracted. My husband and I found and booked Okyne Medialab because we wanted a DJ that had many great reviews (check) and that had DJed numerous times at our wedding venue City View Loft (check). Our DJ, DJ Gordon, showed up the day of the wedding and played music -- wonderful. The problem is, to be a great wedding vendor, you need to partner with your client, be able to communicate effectively, ask questions if something is unclear, deal with ambiguity, and solve problems. Stacy was in constant contact with us working through our contract and schedule. Making sure we had everything we needed. When looking for a DJ for our wedding we were nervous about having a cheesy DJ who was awkward or had fake voice. Our venue (Steve Sleczka -LondonHouse Chicago) and wedding coordinator (Cassandra Vack - Anthony Gowder Designs) both recommended Okyne Media Lab. We couldn't have been happier with our decision to hire Okyne Medialab for our wedding. They did a great job listening to our vision for our cocktail hour and reception and explained how they would help us get there. Working with Okyne Media was an amazing experience from start to finish. Alan was our DJ and he made our wedding night unforgettable!! The music was unbelievable. After a quick trip down memory lane to my wedding back in 2014, I was still reminded of our huge disappointment by the service that I am finally writing this review.
