Divorce Mediation
I help couples divorce with dignity (without going broke) and protect what they care about most through divorce mediation and estate planning. Whether you are planning for divorce or need an estate plan, you have come to the right place. There are those who respond confidently to challenges and life-changing events, and there are those that stick their head in the sand and hope it all goes away.

I'm here to help you respond to life's challenges with confidence and get the best outcome for you and your family. My divorce taught me many things, but the most important lesson was that the best outcomes are solved together, through peaceful mediation and understanding - not slugging it out in court.
Services
Divorce hurts, even if you are the one who wants it; however, that doesn't mean the process should be any more painful than it needs to be. At The Law Office of Polly A. Tatum, we provide the guidance and legal knowledge necessary so that separation can be done cooperatively. We believe a fair compromise that allows each person to walk away from the relationship with peace of mind is possible.
We couldn't have been more pleased and grateful to Attorney Tatum for creating our comprehensive Estate Plan. As parents of two young adult sons - we wanted to make. My divorce was amicable, but the subsequent issues that came up when I got remarried and moved closer to my children created a lot of conflicts.
My name is Polly Tatum and I founded The Law Office of Polly A. Tatum because I passionately believe in the benefits mediation can provide you during this trying time. I spent most of my life before mediation in human and civil service, and I have seen from the inside how poorly equipped the system is to handle matters as sensitive and emotionally charged as divorce, custody, child support, and parenting schedules.
Helping You Resolve Complex Issues through Alternative Dispute Resolution - Call (508) 795-1557. Many people are under the misconception that when seeking a divorce or dealing with another family-related matter, litigation is the only answer. Fortunately, this is not the case.

Mediation is a common form of ADR (alternative dispute resolution) which is recognized for its ability to guide two disputing parties towards reaching a mutually agreeable decision.Mediation is much less contentious than litigation, which is an excellent benefit if you and your spouse wish to remain amicable or if you share children.
If parents cannot agree about monthly child support payments after a divorce and wish to deviate from the standards dictated by Massachusetts law, conflicts can be emotionally-heated and can quickly grow out of control. The parent receiving support may feel cheated out of a fair payment, whereas the parent paying support may feel forced to pay an unmanageable amount.

From the beginning Polly put us at ease and explained the divorce process to us. She helped us figure out complicated decisions about dividing our assets and reassuring us that things would be worked out in a fair manner. We had a 2 year lapse in our process due to personal reasons and when we were ready Polly picked us up where we left off and helped us complete the divorce process. I recommend her highly.

Polly recently handled my divorce and I could not have been more pleased with the entire process. She was not only compassionate in handling my business with care but she was also very responsive and efficient in the coordination of everything. This included being proactive in scheduling 1x1 sessions between us to stay aligned so that I always knew current status and was never left wondering. Also important to note is the service and support by Polly's legal assistant Kathy who helped me daily with email communications, document sharing and other misc. business.

Polly helped my ex and me navigate through an amicable divorce. Across about five sessions she kindly and professionally walked us through all the steps, provided guidance on important topics to think about, and ultimately crafted a well-written separation agreement. After the judge reviewed it our hearing was a relatively quick formality. Thanks, Polly!

We used Polly Tatum for our estate planning and Will. She was very knowledgeable in explaining the importance of having these two items done for the benefits of you and your family. She took her time explaining and put the legal jargon in layman terms so that we could understand the importance of having these documents. she was very professional, and responsive to our many questions.
She took care of all the paperwork and took time to explain each document... we now have our plan complete and feel good if something were to happen our children would be protected with our last wishes.. this is something

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value
Polly mediated our divorce with professionalism, fairness and care. She walked us through the process, which seemed daunting and overwhelming at first, while explaining the steps and facilitating important conversations about children and finances. Polly is excellent at what she does and I definitely would recommend to her to anyone.

Going into mediation was a very difficult step for my ex and I to begin. Polly was so easy to work with from the start and knew exactly how to approach and handle our personalities. She was very patient, empathetic, understanding, thorough and extremely knowledgeable. She broke the meetings in a way that was convenient to our needs and schedules. She addressed all of issues with custody, assets, and prepared us for our hearing. She gathered all the documentation needed for court date that was seamless. She was just outstanding during this difficult time and always answered any question or concern

Polly was able to clearly articulate the importance of estate planning. As a young professional, Polly should offer a course to young people entering the workforce. She is personable, intelligent and makes sure she addresses all of your questions you have and even ones you don’t know to ask.
I was very happy with Polly and her firm. I recommended my parents, and they also speak very highly of Polly and the work she performed for them.
Thank you Polly!

My ex and I were amicable about our divorce but needed help to advise us on child support, 401K, and division of our assets. We decided to use Polly as our mediator to draw up our divorce agreement because we heard about her through some others who had used her. It was a long process but Polly broke it into sessions that were convient for us. She has all of the connections, knowledge, expertise and people skills necessary to give you the best possible outcome. Polly is very patient, caring, honest and straightforward. She also helped our daughter with her health care proxy now that she is 18. She
