Apartment 12 is a boutique salon with urban style in downtown Sarasota. We strive for a chill atmosphere, good music, talented team of stylist & latest hair trends. Laura McLain and Joanne Giordano opened the salon in 2012. Laura McLain loves style, fashion and hair that is effortless, polished and little rock 'n' roll.
With a background in fine arts she loves bringing the artist side to hair specializing in balayage and ombre technique and Hair Extensions. She is also trained in Goldwell and L'Oreal products and is an educator for platinum seamless hair extensions. Prior to becoming a hair stylist, Laura was a make-up artist for MAC.

Experience was so so, Victoria who worked the front desk was a huge help. She was a large part of what was good of my experience. I watched her shampoo clients, clean the salon, and tend the front desk all while I was there in my short period of time. My personal experience I would not go back, but Victoria made up for that. I genuinely enjoyed my conversation with her and she made me feel very at home. I look forward to going back for my next service and seeing her.

I’ve been going to Laura for about 6 years now and she always makes my hair look FANTASTIC. She’s colored my hair, she’s cut my hair, she’s given me new styles throughout the years, and she’s even taken hoursssss out of her day to fix my hair with what was supposed to be a “temporary” hair dye post-Halloween disaster! She always takes the time to make sure whatever you’re getting done is exactly how you wanted it to be and she truly exceeds all expectations. Everyone at the salon is so friendly and knows what they’re doing. I don’t use anything other than their R+Co products

I have been coming here for about five years now and this hair studio is amazing! The atmosphere of the studio is very light and calming. Not to mention the decor, it is beautiful and creative, very Alice in Wonderland vibes. All of the stylists I have ever seen were great, from haircuts to hair color they are awesome. Highly rated for a reason! I am very picky with my hair, as most people are.. this studio is the ONLY place I will go.

After a highlight-gone-wrong situation courtesy of another salon, I booked a color correction with Hannah at Apartment 12. Hannah was so kind and listened to what I wanted (also listened to what wasn't working for me with the disappointed service I had received elsewhere). She worked a miracle! I walked out looking incredible and feeling even better. The entire process was so easy - their online booking is perfection, everyone was incredibly nice and it is obvious that all of the stylists are best-in-class. I am so upset that I have passed by Apartment 12 for years thinking it was just too cute

Just got a haircut from Joanne and love it. It was easy to make an appointment. Their confirmation process was quick and easy. I had a great experience overall. I have thick hair and a lot of it. She cut it just right. I love the way it lays, feels and looks. She was also super quick, which was nice. The whole experience was welcoming and positive. I go back next week for a color and am looking forward to it.

Laura AND Apartment 12 is the only place I would recommend in Sarasota. Laura has been my stylist for over 15 years and I can't say enough about her talents. I would say I am a picky client and she makes it happen EVERY time, no matter what I request, change or dream of. Apartment 12 is where hair GOALS come true. Laura has cut my hair a couple of times since I moved to Sarasota and recently I had her dye my hair. I had a horrible experience with another stylist and was very apprehensive to have anyone dye my hair again. Not only did Laura correct the color but she added low lights to add some additional dimension. I left the salon very happy and highly recommend her.
