Scott Esq. focuses exclusively in the areas of elder law, life resource planning, estate planning, asset protection and estate administration.
My Mom is 90 years old and was living independently. She was beginning to need additional care and also was running very low on funds. Justin was very helpful in explaining that my Mom would be eligible for Medicaid for assisted living. He is very knowledgeable about the process and answered all my questions quickly and accurately.
Planning for the future can be one of the hardest things anyone can do. Add in someone passing away, and it can be hard enough just focusing on the now, let alone having to figure out what to do about everything they have left behind. At Scott Counsel, we have a few goals. One of them is to be the best possible team we can be for the sake of our clients.
One of the ways we can do that is to help you, our client or potential client, make sense of all the various documents you may come across when you dive into the ocean of elder law. If we are around for any significant length of time, chances are we have at least heard the term "Power of Attorney" before.

Another attorney friend of mine suggested Scott Counsel to assist me with my wife in consideration of her entering a long term nursing facility because of her alzheimer's. In addition to all the other necessary legal documents that were prepared for us, we had the blessing of being granted Medicaid assistance whenever my wife will opt to start her new chapter in a nursing facility. My husband and I knew that writing our will should be a priority because of our children. But we put it off until just recently when we had a neighbor die of a heart attack. Witnessing what that event did to our neighbor’s family is what finally drove me to seek out Justin and have a will drawn up. It turned out that the actual will wasn’t as important as a Health Care Proxy and Power of Attorney. Justin’s team took the time to explain the law and the legal docs needed to plan for our family’s future.

I contacted Scott Counsel 3 years ago, in the midst mother's fall that resulted in major surgery and lengthy rehabilitation. Unsure of mother's future needs and of the challenges in establishing a plan to meeting them, I reached out to Justin and his team. I received timely, compassionate and personalized guidance, with viable options for me and mother to consider. Still can't thank them enough for their assistance. When she passed away this year, they were the ones who guided me through her will and estate.

I can say the office staff is very patient and caring. I'm updating a will for an elderly parent and as expected, she can be a bit too much and go back and forth very often with her decisions. The Scott Counsel was very responsive, checked every step of the way that the family member understood the process, and took time to completely answer and make sure the answers were understood. I found them to have excellent staff who are knowledgeable, compassionate, and responsive. In addition, the services we received were very professional and organized. Very detailed and thoughtful presentation of our options and issues for an estate plan. We've just had our 3 year update and continue to be impressed by the staff, their grasp of the tax and legal issues, AND their commitment to create a plan that reflects what we want. Took into account our specific family issues with a disabled adult child. Not cookie cutter and no present agenda to fit us into a mold. Highly recommend this team!

When my Father was diagnosed with prostate cancer, he thought it was best to have his affairs in order. He was always stubborn about going to doctors but didn’t waste much time in getting the family involved with an elder law attorney. We had a Health Proxy completed, as well as creating a will, appointing Powers of Attorney, and developing a trust. 2 years later When my father passed, there was extreme tension between my brothers. I am certain that the Living Trust setup by Scott Counsel years ago, helped me avoid a lengthy probate battle with my brothers.

My husband and I had a terrible experience with getting our trust and will done last year. After our friend introduced us Scott Counsel, we were relieved to have someone to get this done for us In a timely fashion. We immediately moved forward and within a week we had a draft of our will.
