The Mental Gym
It's easy to view life from a fearful perspective - knowing that infection lurks and conflict erupts all around us. It's hard to focus on daily tasks and even harder to shut-off our minds to all the "what ifs." Life is even more challenging right now: Especially because we're used to living without conscious limitation.

When society imposes strict boundaries and demands change, it's easy to focus on what's NOT fitting perfectly together. When crisis occurs, it's easy to lose sight of life's bigger picture. Fortunately, with desire and dedication, anxiety and agitation can be replaced with healthier perspectives. The fact is, it's not your circumstances, but how you view these circumstances that determines the quality of your experience.
Services
Therapy (also referred to as Psychotherapy or Counseling) is an engaging process where clients share and resolve life challenges through consistent interaction with a psychology professional. Some use our services for increasing inner-clarity or implementing better decision-making. Others set goals for optimizing social connection, developing business prowess, or deepening intimate relationships.
The Mental Gym is a collective of experienced, Board-certified therapists who share a belief in human potential. We exude warmth, relatability, and humor and strive to bring these authentic qualities into each and every session. We aim to provide you with a safe and connective experience. Our clients value the protected perimeters of our boutique practice, which is nestled within the private walls of a working movie/television studio lot.
When anxiety takes hold, you can feel as though you're in the center of a maze with no way out. The reality is that anxiety is a manifestation of irrational thoughts that can create fearful and self-defeating behaviors. Thankfully, with guidance and determination, you can retrain your brain and gain control over this detrimental cycle!
We answered, detailing fantastical careers (often amusing our parents and teachers) or responding in ways to get adult approval. We overwhelmingly understand that pursuing careers based on impulsive decisions we made as children is just ludicrous. Still, people find themselves all-grown-up and feeling stuck in jobs they felt were assigned to them.
When two people from different upbringings come together to form an alliance, struggles and conflict are bound to occur. Strong statements like these are hard to forgive, impossible to forget - and can easily create irreparable relationship damage. Romantic relationships undeniably play a vital role in our overall well-being; it's pivotal that both partners are emotionally in-sync for healthy nurturing to occur.

This review is a year overdue, but I owe it to anyone considering counseling at the Mental Gym to share the other side of the story as told by the distraught reviewer below.
To this day I have been growing and maturing because of Nancy's guidance. I've learned how to verbally express my emotions instead of internalizing them and retreating. I can establish and enforce boundaries in relationships. I rely less on alcohol for acceptance by peers. I spend more time enjoying activities and people who make me happy. I recognize my worth and what a thoughtful and loving partner I am.

Bill is legitimately the best of the best. He's helped me more than I ever could have imagined. I started seeing him after I beat cancer and my head was a mess. Not only did he help heal me emotionally, he gave me brilliant insight about my career trajectory. After seeing him for six months, I've gained confidence, fresh perspective, and a huge sense of overall happiness. HIGHLY recommend!

My ex and I came here for couples counseling. It seemed like it actually made things worse. It taught me a lot on how to treat women, like using the 5 languages of love. But that actually pushed her away some how. I don't know if I would do couples counseling ever again. One of the worst ideas ever. I opened up about my past to this girl that now hates me, and probably lost my respect during these ridiculous crying sessions.
Go at your own risk.
