When you are overwhelmed by a sea of stormy emotions, sometimes all you long for is peace. Peace to calm the anxious thoughts racing through your mind. Peace to replace the numbness and sadness that has been plaguing you for so long. Peace to know that you are doing the right thing in your relationship and that it is all going to work out in the end.
The stormy emotions threaten to drown you, and you long for a life preserver to cling to, or a raft to be hauled up into to catch your breath. Better yet, a piece of land to stand firm, stable, and grounded upon. If you are longing for peace, I believe that I can help. Therapy can be a safe place to talk through these emotions and to come to a place of grounding, stability, and calm.

Coming to therapy for the first time can be an exciting but scary experience. You're probably filled with questions: "How do I know who's the right therapist for me?"; "Will this person really be able to help me?"; "Do I really need this?" I understand how important and intimidating that first contact can be.
I believe that therapy can be an invaluable experience, whether you are coming because you want to learn specific skills for overcoming an obstacle in your life, because you need a safe place to talk honestly about difficult issues, or because there are things that you see in yourself that you don't understand and that you want to be able to change.
I can't stop crying. I'm not even sure what triggers it, but I can't make it through the day without being in tears over something. Depression is scary. It can feel deep and dark and hopeless. It can be hard to imagine that things will ever get better. Being able to talk with someone who will listen deeply and compassionately, can set you on the road to healing.
Many couples look back fondly on a time in their relationship that was joy-filled. A time when they not only looked forward to spending time together, but they felt loved, respected, and listened to. When they experienced real connection and intimacy. You still love each other, and yet at times an argument can erupt and spiral downward so fast, that it leaves you overwhelmed and confused.
As parents, we all want to know that our kids are going to be okay. And nothing is more likely to keep us up at night than the fear that they are not. We can spend much of our day trying to figure out when and how to help, and where to pull back and let them learn from their own mistakes.
But when you see signs that your teenager might be depressed, that they're withdrawing, or overly stressed and anxious, your instinct is to help in whatever way possible. For many teens, therapy might be the best option. They seem wound really tight, and even small things going wrong or not as planned, can lead to an emotional meltdown.

I know Laura as a clinical supervisor through working alongside her during my traineeship. She demonstrated excellent ability to supervise, teach, and mentor MFT trainees during the time I had the pleasure of working with her. She provided excellent supervision, made herself available to engage with supervisees on their special professional interests, and provided tailor-made feedbacks. Her approachable personality, calm and composed demeanor, wealth of therapeutic knowledge, and openness to learn from her supervisees make her an outstanding supervisor who earns my highest recommendation.

Laura was my therapist for a little more than a year and a half during my transition time which included finishing grad school, starting a new career, and a lengthy and shaky period of being engaged. It was a very difficult time for me, and I was hesitant about finding a therapist that would be a good fit.
I found Laura to be a great fit for me. Her style is authentic, genuine, and natural-feeling. It made for a comfortable and open environment where I felt free to be the same. I never felt she saw me any differently (i.e. incapable etc.) even as I struggled with anxiety and depression, instead
