Because all of Rachael's designs are custom, she likes to see inspiration such as a photo of the gown, invitation design, color swatches, pictures of other cakes that you like, and anything else that has guided your planning process. These details allow her to have a better understanding of your wedding style and therefore guide her through your cake design process.
Each of our cakes is custom designed to meet the needs of our clients and vary in size, decor, and the amount of time required to create them. Wedding and event cakes start at $2000. Groom's cakes start at $500 and must accompany a wedding cake created by Intricate Icings Cake Design. Unfortunately, we no longer offer cakes for all occasions.
Rachael is best known for her bridal gown inspired cakes, but also enjoys translating any type of inspiration into an original cake design. She sees potential for edible art everywhere, so you'll rarely find her without a sketchpad in hand. Rachael grew up baking in the kitchen with her Hungarian grandmother, but she didn't discover her passion for cake decorating until later in life while seeking a creative outlet from her day job.
Rachael enjoys sharing her cake knowledge and expertise in private classes and through online Craftsy cake decorating classes, as well as individual business mentoring sessions. What a GORGEOUS cake Rachael made for our art deco wedding in August 2017! And it was so delicious...my only regret is that I didn't get enough of it!! So busy dancing ;) We had a blast doing a cake tasting a few months before the wedding, and Rachael helped us select just the right flavors. We surprised ourselves, chocoholics that we are, by falling in love with her lime-zucchini cake and cream cheese frosting. We did another layer with a chocolate cake with a rich creamy frosting. Both were amazing, and were complimented non-stop by our guests. Plus, the cake itself looked like a piece

I'm not really sure how to review this place. They did our wedding cake back in 2011 and did a great job. Everything they did was excellent, from the beginning tasting and design phase to the day of the wedding, they were easy to work with and the cake looked great.
They offer a free 12month cake, unfortunately we couldn't take advantage of that offer within their time window. Last time we were in Colorado we remembered them and called to see if they would still offer the free cake deal, to which they understandably said no. We asked about any other options they had and we were rudely

Intricate Icings is absolutely the best of the best! Our wedding cake was beyond beautiful and tasted amazing. All our guests are still raving about it. It was such a pleasure to work with Rachael and she was so flexible and accommodating with our special requests for the design (to incorporate my dress) and for a special flavor that meant a lot to my husband and his family (sticky toffee pudding), which she researched and tested for us beforehand. Rachael exceeded all our expectations for both the cake design and the flavor, and all with amazing service and friendliness every step of the way.

We got our daughter's first birthday cake here, and we could not be more pleased! I wanted a grown-up cake and a "smash" cake, and specifically asked for the smash cake to be shaped like a lady bug to go with the party theme. Other bakers told me they could only do it with fondant, which wouldn't make for a good smash cake, as it's too hard for little fingers to get through. Not only did Intricate Icings do it with buttercream frosting, it was also GORGEOUS and perfect! The grown up cake was equally beautiful, with wildflowers and sugar lady bugs all over it. 5 years ago, after our wedding, Rachael touched base with me about our cake and I told her that we had only had a chance to have our "cut bite" and our guests had gobbled up the rest before we could get more! She went out of her way to make us a couple of cupcakes in the same flavor so we could enjoy it together. Unfortunately, over the years, it seems the personal touch and customer service had fallen by the wayside. Rachel is the best cake decorator ever!!! One of her specialties is to design her cake to match a bride's dress. I can only say, she far exceeded my expectations. It was the most beautiful cake I have ever seen, and it was incredible how much it matched my dress. Not to mention, her cakes taste AMAZING. The price was a bit higher than I wanted to spend, however, for what you get, it was well worth the money. Girls, if you love your dress, and want to see it on your wedding cake, please follow this review, you will not regret it :)

Oh my God, do not hesitate at all to go with Intricate Icings for your wedding cake. It was easily the best wedding cake I have ever in my entire life. And it was the most unique and beautiful cake I have ever seen. The cake was for my sister's wedding and she said the planning process was super easy, and that the quote from here was much cheaper than the other places that she went to.
Seriously, it's been two weeks since the wedding, and the deliciousness of the cake is still what is brought up the most by the guests of the wedding.
