Update: After 2.5 years the complex is one of the best places to live in the area. My wife and I have enjoyed our time here. We're sad to have to move out but would recommend this place to anyone.
Big shout out to Nelson who was there the day I moved in and made it so much easier (play with him Mario Cart in the lounge). If you need anything he's your guy.

Everyone working here is genuinely nice and trying to accommodate all requests. Thumbs up on Nelson and Paula who go above and beyond. Maintenance

I've just moved in and what I can say is out of all the apartments in Norwalk we decided to go with the Merritt River.
Pros:
They have multiple apartments to show you when viewing your dream place, not just a model apartment they show the public. I like the fact I can see the apartment I am getting which makes me want to rent out what I see ( visual aspect).

Ehhh. Look around at all options. Choose wisely. The leasing office is pretty great when you are signing up but buyer beware after you sign and don't expect to be treated well for the amount you pay. The best part of the Apartments is the concierge and maintenance teams, nice polite and professional people, but fixtures and plumbing are old so expect issues. The apartments and hallways are in need of renovations. The parking spots are tiny and next to concrete pillars, very tough to get in and out of. The trash situation is very bad. Meeting Paula was extremely disconcerning. I felt like the staff was trying to hide something during my entire tour. It was unsettling. She lied and said she had never once received a noise complaint. Reading the reviews, I see that this is not so.
Application process has been a headache. Applicants apply through a third party; its not friendly or easy or welcoming.

I lived at the Merritt River Apartments for 5 years and ended up leaving only due to relocating for my job. These apartments have some of the best soundproofing between units that I have encountered (I attribute that to the concrete walls. My neighbor had two dogs that I never heard), and I found the management and maintenance to be very quick in responding to any issues. Package acceptance and ample guest parking was also great. Overall, I enjoyed my time there and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this building to anyone I know. For those concerned about the train, I lived in a corner unit furthest

I did not enjoy my residence here, lived here for three years. There are car and apartment thefts, to start. Extremely noisy, whether it's from the other residents, your neighbors, dogs barking out of their windows all day, or street noise, even on the top floor. I wasn't even on the train side. You see directly into other people's apartments from your window. Charged high rent from the start, then skyrocketed my rent the second year with only 30 days notice. I complained about my neighbor blasting her TV until 3am literally every night to the point where I couldn't sleep in

We have lived here almost 2 years. We do rent the larger 2 bedroom and find all the rooms spacious. Walls between units are solid concrete so you may occasionally hear someone upstairs but not your neighbors. Nearby train to NYC is within walking distance and you do get used to the train noise. Staff is generally helpful especially concierge and maintenance. Concierge service is a real bonus that you WIll NOT find at other apartments in Norwalk. All parking is underground which is extremely helpful in snowy weather. You do have to pay extra for reserved parking if you want one and for a second

I toured many apartments in Fairfield County and was annoyed with all the +++ fees attached to the monthly rent. After adding the water, sewer, trash, pool, and gym fees to the other building's monthly rent we would have to cancel Christmas. The parking fees at some buildings I toured had similar monthly rates to what you would pay in NYC, walls at these particular buildings were paper thin and layouts were bizarre to me. When we finally arrived at Merritt River Apartments my child's jaw dropped when he saw the pool. We learned that the Clubroom was free of charge with a prior reservation

The management staff is the best in the U.S. I've lived in many parts of the U.S. and this management staff is ALWAYS willing to help and do whatever it takes to make your stay at Merritt River enjoyable. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a great place to live in CT.

Love living here!!! Staff is caring and helpful, apartments are nicely appointed, and the amenities are very nice. Great swimming pool, club room & fitness center! In the apartments, (at least in mine) the closets and bathrooms are huge! Never hear noise from neighbors just footsteps from upstairs once in awhile. The concierge service is a huge bonus, I don't know what we'd do without them. Great place to call home!
