Through-the-Week School (TTWS) opened in 1955 as a mission of Myers Park Baptist Church to provide quality preschool education "through the week". Our philosophy, "We Play to Learn", is based on the understanding that optimal learning occurs as children play. At TTWS children are offered open-ended, developmentally appropriate opportunities for cognitive, emotional, social, physical and intellectual growth.
Our curriculum is enriched throughout the year with fun and educational activities. Each of the activities are designed to meet the specific needs of development and growth for the age groups. Holly Johnson, musician and preschool teacher, along with Community School of the Arts, provide a musical experience visiting classrooms using instruments, songs and fingerplays.

Services
TTWS is a half-day school with programs for Toddler/Twos, Preschool (3 and 4 year old), and Transitional Kindergarten, with before and after school activities offered through our on-campus church and community outreach center, the Cornwell Center. We adhere to the standards recommended by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
TTWS provides a safe, nurturing environment to help toddlers and two year olds build the trust necessary to explore the world around them. The daily routine for this age group is designed to meet their needs at their pace and to encourage development of self-help and separation skills. Children enjoy indoor play, snack, lunch, and outdoor play on the toddler playground or two's playground.
In an atmosphere of play, TTWS offers opportunities for preschoolers to ask questions, find answers, develop math, writing and reading skills, and to develop the social and emotional skills necessary for success in kindergarten and beyond. The daily schedule includes free choice play in learning centers, small and large group instruction, lunch, and out-door play on the preschool playground.
Our dynamic team of teachers have been with the Through-the-Week-School for an average of ten years, some as long as eighteen! With Continuing Education and adhering to NAEYC standards, our teachers create a nurturing, creative place for your little one to grow and learn through the power of play.
