The tools taught by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can help us create joy and peace in our lives, through the hard but rewarding work of THINKING and DOING. We need to make sure that our basic human needs are being met, at least partially, before we will be able to put focus and energy into the Thinking and Doing that will lead to increased joy and peace.
First, a caveat. If it has been raining in your life for forty days and forty nights and your ark is taking on water, get some help. It is a very good idea to talk to friends, family, religious advisors, support groups, and a therapist. There are also medications available which can help people weather the storm, and taking those medicines while you need them is perfectly acceptable.
I would be happy to help you find ways to meet parenting challenges such as these. I can help you enhance your communication and discipline skills. You can come to understand your child's behavior better and create more effective responses. You can learn stress management skills that will make the parenting years more satisfactory and enjoyable.
At this time I am not able to start therapy with new couples (since online therapy is not set up well for such work). However, I am happy to work with individuals on relationship issues. Counseling can be helpful in turning relationships around even when only one person is seen by the therapist. Couples who enter into a committed loving relationship want that relationship to last.
Although we may wish that we could all just get along in peace, conflict can happen in every part of our lives: between young child and parent, between spouses, between adult and the adult's parent, between friends, with neighbors, between boss and employee, between clerk and customer, within organizations.

Maureen is exceptional. She’s kind. Understanding. Her cognitive-behavioral approach lends itself to real tangible tools...that work. She takes major insurances, and is easy to work with.
