Colorado Counseling Professionals is a group practice focused on providing mental health and personal counseling. We currently have two therapists, Doug Smith, Ph. D. and Patricia Mathews, Ph. D. Both Dr. Smith and Dr. Mathews have over twenty years of experience in the field of mental health and have worked in a variety of professional settings.
Our practice provides services for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. We accept both a variety of insurance plans and private pay and we also provide assistance with billing. Colorado Counseling Professionals has two locations. One of our locations is in Castle Rock, just off Plum Creek Parkway and I-25 and convenient to Founders, the Meadows, Castle Pines, Larkspur, Monument and Elizabeth.

I have over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. My Ph. D. is in Counseling Psychology. I have been licensed (#2512) to practice in Colorado since 2000.
I have worked in multiple settings including inpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment facilities, residential treatment centers for adolescents and children, College Counseling Centers, including the University of Southern California and the University of Kansas, and several hospitals including the Veterans Hospital in Memphis, TN, and locally with Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette and St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs.

Private practice counseling working with clients presenting with issues ranging from depression, anxiety, job/career, relationships, substance abuse, grief/loss, trauma, etc. Francis Medical Center, Colorado Springs, CO. Provide triage/assessment for patients in the Emergency Department or non-psychiatric units who present with psychiatric and/or substance related symptoms or behaviors.
I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about my educational and professional background, as well as information about my practice. As part of my Ph. D. program, I completed a one year internship at the Denver VAMC. At the VA, I was involved in assessments, outpatient psychotherapy, psychiatric emergency services and inpatient substance abuse services for veterans.
