Small City Taphouse

Y'all have a website, a phone number, AND a Google listing, all of which you COULD HAVE used to notify customers that you'd be closed for the ENTIRE month of January 2022, but nope. I had to drive out of my way w/ hungry kids in-tow to find that info out for myself via a printed sign in your darkened window. Don't worry though, I just spent 17 seconds to mark you as temporarily closed on here... y'know, out of consideration for others.
It's a shame, your menu looks amazing.

My husband loved their lemon grass tofu curry. It was very flavorful. Portions are small. He wanted to go and pick up another order as it was too small for him. See weed salad was good too. Fresh and yummy.

It's a hip place in downtown Sandusky with a industrial vibe. Big open spaces highlighting beer. The food was just ok. My son had the sweet and sour chicken which is just what you would expect but I will say the chicken itself was nicely breaded and tender. I had ramen- I don't recall it being super special. My husband and daughter seemed to enjoy their sushi. No the absolute down side of this place was their piece of crap digital menus. They don't work. They shut down, they change pages, they don't do what you want when wanted, they are hard to navigate. We even swapped menus

Open, airy space with plenty of seating, absolutely amazing food (Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese), and a wide variety of drinks (meads, beers, sours, wines, etc).

Drinks:
-Strawrhubarb Puff Tart ($3 for a small) - this was absolutely delicious, like a fruity alcoholic smoothie. Strong alcohol taste though. Drinks are served in such fun glasses!

Food:
-Lemongrass Beef Lettuce Wraps ($11) - fragrant and so yummy!

-I love you with my Sushi Roll ($15) - wonderfully crafted, perfect crab to rice ratio, delicious

Fantastic. My partner (a meat loving omnivore) and I (vegan for 16 years) had planned a short trip to Sandusky and wanted to find one or two places that could serve us both. Many recommendations led us to Small City Taphouse. It surpassed both our expectations. He enjoyed the sampler, and I had the surprisingly amazing curry tofu. Our server Shelby was very thorough in answering our questions and making sure we got what we wanted. We have a couple more visits coming up in the near future and plan to definitely make this a regular stop when we're in town.

Didn't get to Ohio thinking the sushi and Asian food would be amazing, but here we are. Tried a basic Cali roll($7) and chicken friend rice($14). Both good portions for the price and both tasted great. Rolls were good and tasty. Service good and fast as well!!

Great restaurant. The sushi here is good and we love their spring roll sampler platter! Huge selection of craft beers on tap and multiple hard ciders to choose from. They really seem to be putting effort into this place, as we notice improvements each time we go there. Great date night atmosphere too. Located downtown next to other night life establishments.

If the service was great, I would have given 5 stars.
I'm visiting from Chicago for Cedar point and Sushi, no matter where I am, is my all time favorite. Tomo at Hotel breakers was not serving sushi this particular day, so I searched for a local spot and was excited to learn of Small City Tap house! I'm guessing my friend and I entered the wrong door, but we walked to the "wait here to be seated" sign and 8 of the employees looked at us as if we asked them to take us to their leader. We patiently waited, but we silently questioned why we were being looked upon by staff as if we did something wrong

The lobby had a motorbike in it that reeked of oil. We sat with it waiting to be seated for 20 plus minutes. Customer service was was bad. No greeting of new customers or asking if we'd been helped yet as staff walked by many times. The server had way too many tables and barely had time to dash around. She didn't take a drink order at all so we had just water. The food was very good but not worth the hassles. I know servers are hard to find so just tell people you're at capacity when you can't handle more.

First time here, and my husband and I had a LOVELY time! The tap list is enormous with a nice variety. I ordered the Belgian Red Ale and my husband got the Japanese Stout and the Peach Cobbler Mead. All were delicious. The food was very good, fast, and high quality. We've been plenty of breweries and pubs with long beer lists that focus on the drinks and let the quality of the food come second. This was definitely not the case and we enjoyed the avocado salad, wonton soup, and other food just as much as the beers.

O my goodness. The Pork wanton soup is to die for. Sushi is always fresh and amazing. The service is terrific too. Also they have the best selection of beers in town.

Food here is great!! I love the cold flat noodles. Be ready for a little spice tho!

Came here for take out and loved the environment. Low key, fun place. Has a tap room and a secondary room for eating. Both have a bar for full service. Interior way more laid back than expected. Busy takeout. We ordered a salmon roll, avocado roll, spicy tuna roll and spicy flat rice noodles with chicken/beef combo and veggies. All good. I'd return if in the area again.

We were in town visiting friends and came here and loved it! I had the caterpillar roll and fried pork dumplings-- the sushi was delicious and the dumpling sauce had a great balance of flavors. My husband, who doesn't typically eat Asian food, had the ribeye. It was very simple (so perfect for him) and flavorful! There was also a great selection of beers. Would definitely recommend!

Awesome casual dining spot right outside the cedar point area! We came here after a long day at cedar point after not eating "real" food all day and it definitely hit the spot! Big selection of different Asian style foods so there should be something for everyone. The part that really threw me for a loop was their large draft selection also which is something uncommon with Asian cuisine usually!

Definitely worth the visit if you're in the Sandusky area :)

Loved the GRILLED LEMONGRASS BEEF LETTUCE WRAP. The meat was high quality and tasted like it was marinated. The YummyYummy Roll has a lot of crab on top. The spice isn't too overpowering. I enjoyed everything we had, especially the alcohol selection. The one drawback is the noise level. The acoustics in here are off the hook extremely loud.

We were visiting from Tampa and were delighted with this place! Great food and beer!!! I still gave the place 5 stars even though they lacked staffing, bathrooms were closed, roof leaked, and the bartender wasn't as attentive. When we got a table all that was futile. Our server Kaitlyn (I believe) was awesome and helped with our menu selections. Tropical wave ale OMG... sooooo good!

An absolute gem of an experience! The beer, sushi, wings, seafood fried rice, and appetizer sampler were divine! Plus you can see where you beer is brewed. Highly recommend

We stopped in here for a late dinner after a full day at Cedar Point. The restaurant is very open. The main room with the bar is extremely large. The decor was nice but a little too open.
The menu is mostly sea food and sushi. They had lots of beer choices. Everyone seemed to like the food they were served. I had the shrimp and scallops. It was good but I thought the flavor was too mild.

We loved this place. We were looking for a sushi place to try in the area and this place did not disappoint. The food was so yummy. We all tried a different drink and they were good too. My friends had the pho and they both said it was good. We will be coming back next year

So good! Had an avocado roll (wasabi is mmm), soft veggie spring roll to start and knew right away the rest of the meal was going to be delicious.
Our entrees were excellent. Loved the grilled taste of the vegetables and Jasmine rice was perfect.
Great selection of tap beers AND they have just about anything else you would want to drink.
I wouldn't expect to pair a Taphouse with Asian cuisine yet it works!
Saw the billboard on our way to Catawba and am so pleased we chose to stop in Sandusky and try this.

Small City Taphouse has been one of my favorite haunts when in Sandusky. The changes in menu, the drink offerings, and the upgrades to the shop is impressive each time I visit.
Saturday night I had a craving for Pho. I reached out to a friend who lives in Sandusky and see if he wanted to meet up for lunch. I was going with or with out but good food and beer are better with good friends.
This trip didn't disappoint. I walked in to see the new brewing facility. I was greatly impressed.
Sat down and gave my friend some crap and started looking over the menu. I started off with

Happened to be in the area on Saturday and saw a billboard on I-90 for Small City Taphouse. As a beer lover and someone who craves Asian food, this was a phenomenal find! Upon entering the restaurant, I loved the vibe. Two large bars to choose from along with tables in the restaurant. The bar we chose probably seats 35-45 people. It was huge with plenty of space for social distancing. Then there's also lounge areas with couches and tables next to the bar. It appears they have a patio when the weather is nicer too.

After checking out the beer list, we decided to try their Pilsner

What a lovely experience!!! My Vietnamese friend suggested I give this restaurant a try :). I'm so glad he did! Wow. We started with the calamari. Delicious. Then we had two sushi rolls which were fresh and made well! Then Pho and fried rice. The pho was subtle but very tasty. The fried rice was tasty if a little bland. That's truly the only miss I found and heck, it wasn't even a miss! The portions were huge, my fiancée and I split the soup! I KNOW we will be back. Such a hidden gem in Sandusky!

What a great place for sushi! It is currently under renovation, so you have to pardon a little bit of dust. But from what I understand, they are expanding because of their popularity. And I can see why!

The sushi was very fresh. You have a wide variety of options. I always go with a California roll or something similar. They have the best shrimp fried rice that I've ever tasted. I know that may sound odd as shrimp fried rice is a pretty basic/common meal; but I will get it every time I stop by this place. It is the only shrimp fried rice that I've ever tasted where I don't have

Excellent local establishment serving great Asian dishes along side a well appointed bar. Great service and ample TV's make the atmosphere welcoming and perfect for groups or intimate affairs. We had a great first visit, and we are sure to come back with friends when the occasion arises. The sample plate is a great mix of offerings, and the crunchy noodles are great - highly recommended.
