Prior to joining CltBP, Banu moved to Charlotte from Venezuela to attend UNC-Charlotte, earning a Master's degree in Literature. Banu gained extensive experience from a career in education, the arts, and the humanities, serving for many years with the North Carolina Humanities Council, the North Carolina Arts Council, and as the Executive Director of SonEdna.
She has led statewide arts and education programs, specializing in forming strategic partnerships with national, state, and local agencies.

Every year, 3,000 Latinx children who qualify for our Preschool Program enter Kindergarten in our community. Without a quality preschool education, children enter Kindergarten 12-14 months behind, are half as likely to read proficiently in third grade, and are four times as likely to drop out of high school on average.
Charlotte Bilingual Preschool (CltBP) has dedicated 20 years to providing innovative, two-generation solutions for preparing Spanish-speaking children for success. Core services include the 5-star licensed dual language Preschool Program for children 3-5 and the Family Program, which empowers families as their children's most important teachers.

We are located on the campus of Hickory Grove Elementary School in the same building as Hickory Grove Pre-K. Our parking lot entry is on Highland Ave. Turn left into Highland Avenue from Hickory Grove Road (coming from Albemarle Road or Harris Blvd)). The school will be the first building on the right.
